Did all 66 Broncos come with the oil bath air cleaner or was it optional?

looks like mine is from an early Mustang, Falcon, not sure.

Were they unique to Broncos?

The Ford Master Parts Catalog list both oil bath and dry type air cleaner available in 1966 for 6cyl and V-8 Broncos.

Does this look correct? The family I bought it from didn't really do any mods to it. Not the best pic but the air cleaner sure looks original to the engine.

Your air cleaner looks very close to the one illustrated in the Ford Master Parts Catalog.

Your master cylinder is not correct, should be a single reservoir on a 66.

The master is my doing. The original fruit jar master was leaking so it was a good time to upgrade.

Does it still have the original 66' bronco carb? Seems like the ones I've see with the paper filter also had a later/different model carb on it.

The carb looks to have been replaced at some time, but with the same style or model. It has the spark control valve on it.

I bought an early 66 in September. It had a dry paper air cleaner on it. It looked fairly original. I found an oil bath cleaner. But this thread has me wondering. I think the carb is original.

My best guess is that the catalog dated 1975 would show the paper element as a replacement part. As far as I know they were not available in 66.

That master cylinder is not 66. In 66 it was a single cylinder just like in gunny's picture.

Your air cleaner assembly looks to be the same as mine. As for the carburator mine has a remanufactued by Autolite of Canada tag on it. Maybe the oil bath setup was optional?

I've been reading everything I can since I bought my truck. I hadn't read that. But nothing would surprise me, anymore. I just figured there was an easy swap and it was 'upgraded' along the way. So much of my truck has been changed through the years.
