'66 oddity strikes again

So for Christmas I got a set of doors for Deloris. Been swapping out the rusty ones and got to putting the door locks together when I realized that the key rod was too short. Upon further inspection I found that the key holes are in different positions. I know the 66-67 locks where above the body line, but I guess there were two locations. Mine is an October 65 Budd Body; did Ford move the key holes location when they started producing the bodies? I was hoping for a concourse restoration with this thing, will anyone other than me and 66 nerds know the difference? Does anyone now the deal with these key holes locations? While the 66's are fun and unique, I should have stuck with 68-75s!

Thanks Steve. So the old saying is still true; education is either painful or expensive...so I guess I'll move the hole or keep searching for rust free 66 doors. Anybody wanna trade?

Just when I thought I had a grip on all the 66 oddities, another one shows up.

That's not an oddity. '67 doors mistaken for '66.

I thought 67 doors were the same as the 66. Never knew 67 had 2 different doors. I have probably seen a 67 sport model and never noticed the lock location.

'67 doesn't have two different doors. '66 are unique, '67 are unique, '68 are unique, '69-'77 are all the same.

Since we're all learning here, what makes the 68 door unique?

Thanks Todd. The more I think I know, the more I find I don't!

This was a helpful thread. So I am looking at mine now and I guess they are correct for the 66 then?

Yes, those look right. I assume yours is a later '66 as I see the later rear shock mounts on it.
