• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

Like I said...I don't know anything about it other than it looked pretty straight from the highway. The VIN made no sense to me...if anyone contacts Butler about it, I would suggest they start there. I did a quick Google search on the VIN and it aside from all of the Butler dealer group hits, there was one at "Salvage Cars for Sale" as well.

Butler has a body/paint shop, so it's possible that it has been rebuilt or salvaged. Tom's Bronco Parts is 20 minutes away and I would be surprised if they didn't know something about it as well.

The "Uncut" VIN on the '67 Bronco

Thanks, Apogee, for posting our listing for us! The Bronco was purchased by Chuck and Linda Butler (owners of Butler Automotive Group in Medford and Ashland, Oregon) for their son about 12 years ago. At the time they cleaned it up a bit and installed a new stereo system but, as far as they know, the rig had never been wrecked. Their son put it in storage 3 or 4 years ago where it stayed until we put it on the lot earlier this year.

As for the VIN... the standardized 17 digit system we know today was instituted in the early 1980s. Before that, manufacturers used their own system. Thus, the appearance of being "cut".

As for the Bronco's condition, it runs great and is TOO MUCH FUN! I drove it in The Medford Cruise (for classic cars) this summer and turned a lot of heads!

If you have any more questions please call us at 541-482-2521 or visit www.butlerman.com.

All 66-77 Bronco VIN's start with U13, U14, or U15. You might want to verify the VIN.

Thanks!

Ya'll got me curious so I crawled up in the Bronco to double check the VIN. It's a little scratched up and hard to read but you're right, it's a U. Thank you!

On a 67 the Factory VIN plate would have probably been on the kick panel beside the e-brake. Is it still there?

I think the confusion stems from the fact that seemingly none of the alpha-numeric sequence of the VIN number advertised seem to line up with a 1966-1977 Bronco application, not just the first letter. A good example of a 1972 VIN and decoder is on the website linked to below for your reference.
