here is the thread http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=248776
I have a 74 and want pony foam/bolsters. So what i read is i need 68-69 foam and 68-69 pony interior (front seats, TMI)? I will also do the head rest upgrade so i need that part number for the kit if someone has it handy. Confused on what i previously read about buying two alike seats, cant remember if it was two drivers or passengers. Anyhow, the goal is to get the right parts ordered for bronco seats with pony upgrade.

Just call TMI and tell them what it is you want. We used them to do a pony interior on a customers truck with the sport foam and loved it. You van get the headrest cover from them for a 69 and get the hard parts from CJ PonyParts. Just be aware that TMI is running a 10 week lead time right now.

I am doing almost the same on my 77 bronco ranger Green and black houndstooth dark jade green vinyl with stock foam CJ pony parts foam part # BRS 4 P pr. and 68 mustang headrests direct bolt in .I wanted to go with pony bolsters TMI but I was thinking it wearing out getting in and out of the bronco Mustang is a lot lower vehicle than a bronco easy in and out

so i am guessing you wanted the pony covers instead of bronco, hence the foam pad purchase?

Are you wanting the actual "pony" upholstery? Like these?

IMG_3888_1316500522.JPG

If so, I'm pretty sure they only came in 65-66 Mustangs. So you will need 65-66 TMI Sport foam and 65-66 TMI Sport Pony upholstery. The backs are thinner and actually are the same as the 66-67 Bronco seats. I installed the above upholstery on 67 Bronco seat frames.

But here's the clincher - I'm not 100% certain - the 74 seat frames you have should accept the 65-66 Mustang TMI Sport foam and upholstery. Again, I'm pretty sure but not 100% that the frames are the same. SOMEBODY PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG!

The "Sport" foam and upholstery provide the extra bolstering. The above pictured seats are the most comfortable "stock" seats I have ever sat in. My plan is to do the same thing on the 72 I just bought.

It's 2 driver's side seats. But that's only for how the seat frame fold forward. Makes no difference in the upholstery you get.

Scoop, i am not stuck on the pony interior, but i do want the enhanced bolsters. i think they call those sport in the 68-69? got it on the seats, if you want them to fold forward alike, they have to be the same side?

I just went through this. I purchased the same setup Scoop used in his photo hoping to install them on my '73. The upholstery shop I took everything to confirmed they would not work. The 66/67 Bronco seat frames are the same as 65-67 Mustang seat frames so the padding and covers are interchangeable. Both the Mustang and Bronco seat frames changed in '68 and they are too big to install the 65/66 Mustang pony interior on. If you're looking to do what Scoop did to a Bronco, you need 66/67 Bronco seat frames in order to fit the upholstery. That or modify a set of 65-67 Mustang seats to work in a Bronco. If you look at TMI's or CJ Pony Parts' web sites, they specifically mark these sets by year and 67 is the cut off.

In order for the passenger side to flip forward into the footwell it needs to be a driver's side seat. Otherwise it hits the tranny tunnel and won't allow enough room to get into the back easily. If you're not set on the real pony upholstery then 68 foam and upholstery will work on the 74 frames.

Thanks for correcting me! I have been trying to confirm/deny this for a while.

Justino, I am not hung up on the pony, just wanted the extra bolsters. Scoop looks like the 68 sport is similar to the pony interior? Of course there is option to buy built seats from TMI, but they are pricey.

The 68 Sport has the extra bolstering like the Sport Pony ones I put in my half cab. That's probably the way I'll go too. The Mustang colors and fabric will be different than the Bronco ones. For some reason CJ does not list an option for Bronco Sport seats - at least I can't find any.

On my headrests I went to pick your part and got them out of a ford Station wagon 4 bolts bracket in the seat back and they are out ,and they will bolt in a bronco bucket seat way cheaper than buying on eBay from a mustang, bought them a few years back

So... based on my conversation with the sales rep at TMI, the 68-69 foam will work with the bronco sport seat covers they sell. here are the part numbers foam 43-70888 and seat covers 43-70908 These two items should get me the seat i want except for the head rest, will sort through that and call again, forgot to ask about the headrest.
