Hey Fellas,

I haven't ran across a "deal" like this in a while. This year the family and I moved to NE Florida. Got a call from my dad (still in Oklahoma) the other day stating his buddy was finally ready to sell his Bronco.

Long story short...dad should be wrapping up the purchase by this weekend. We're buying this to sell. Contemplating what we do to it, if anything, before it goes online.

What say ye: 68 Uncut Halfcab - inline 6
1. Clean it up a bit and sell as is?
2. Frame on Restoration, remove rust (pretty minor actually and most is surface rust)? Convert to V8 or not?
3. Frame off restoration converted to V8 and Auto?

A half cab like that is the only type I would still like to own. It looks awfully solid as is. My vote would be to freshen it up a bit or simply throw it out there as is and let the next owner make the decisions. If it's priced right I might be bidding.

Make sure it runs and drives well. Don't paint anything, even under the hood. You might put some tires and stock wheel covers on it. Clean it and maybe wax it. Other than that, I would not touch a thing.

I would check the running gear, brakes and steering gear. Check the cooling system and replace every rubber hose and belt. Get a nice set of tires on it. Get the truck safe do a good tune up and running proper so the next owner can drive it 15,000 miles without having to do anything but put gas in it. get the seat fixed. While the seat is out really clean the inside. Make sure everything functions properly. On the outside I would scrub it good and use a rust converter to kill the open rust issues then I would buff the paint as best as you can and wax the hell out of it so you arrest the decay. The only issues I have are bad bumper you have to replace that with another painted one. Then there's the tail gate. there you have to kill the rust inside and out and as much as I hate to I would probably repaint it. It just looks badly ugly. I don't know, maybe just paint the really bad areas and buff and blend the new into the old so it doesn't look like a repaint or replacement more like maintenance. Much more than this small financial expense but allot of personal labor you might make some money on investment. After that your spending so much money and time I doubt you will get it back or make the effort worth while. Let someone who wants a fully restored stocker flip the bill for it.

Thanks guys. I'm learning more towards option 1 as welll. If for no other reason than I'm in Florida and the truck is in OK.

BTW - truck runs and drives like a dream. Owner is a mechanic and kept everything in order.

So most of you are in agreement to not mess with replacing any panels?? Truck comes with new rockers. I thought about having Gordon replace and fix rusty areas, prime and shoot it with clear. Thoughts?

I would not touch it. Once you start replacing metal and applying paint, people wonder what you are trying to hide. If you are not careful it will turn into an "unfinished project" for sale. Either restore it or leave it alone.....

I never said anything about taking advantage of the seller or low ball offers. So you know...seller came to my dad and asked or his help to sell.
