Looking for an accurate length for a 6r80 from the bellhousing to the DS flange or middle of the ujoint cap.

From varied reports so far the trans w/adapter is appr 27", then the length of the Atlas.

thanks

Two things...

1- Either nobody is running an Atlas behind a 6r80

0R

2- Nobody is willing to string a tape measure...???

Hmmm... would sure appreciate an accurate measurement..

Thanks

I’ll try and grab ya some measurements but it’s probably going to be a few days with the holidays... we need to bolt the atlas up to the 6r80 for the last bit of mock up and I can get some numbers.... hopefully someone can chime in sooner tho

Could you run a tape to get an accurate length of the 6r80 even before its bolted up.

Should be about 23 3/4"?

Thanks...I have zero 6r80's in our entire county to measure... :(

Thanks again

You should run down to Kelleher Motors and start crawling under a truck with a tape measure and see what they say! ;D

You are right!! ;)

I've done that before...I have!

Multiple torn off rotator cuff muscles-as in 3. Literally can't move my arm awau from my body yet... :(

Need to figure this out asap as to viabilty...

That trans is long, add in a 3 3/4" long adapter and you now have CV angle issues...even with my WB extension...

It looks to be a hair under 24”. I’m a little over six weeks from having the same done to my right shoulder. Had to wear damn brace until a couple days ago. About all I can do is organize nuts and bolts in my garage. Hopefully your recovery goes well!

Thank you!

Add 3/4" to the bellhousing for the sbf adapter, add a n o t h e r 3 3/4" for the t-case adapter (why can't they make that shorter?) so about another 4" for about 28 1/2" total...plus t-case.

Length wise it will fit... thanks for the measurements... appreciated.

Started another thread...probably shouldn't have but now I am quite sure I am going to have DS to 6r80 pan or actual trans interference... ;(

My 4r70 pan is 11" wide plus 1" on each side for the bolt "lip" to attach the pan to the trans. for 13" total across the bottom.

Could I ask for a width measurement to see if my CV or DS is going to hit the pan OR the shifter mechanism? I am not full width up front so I'm hoping ...
...

SURE appreciate it. Don't want to rip doubler and 4r70W out, buy a 6r80 and probably and Atlas just to find out that the DS will hit when the susp is bottomed out....

When I swapped the 205 in behind my KluneV, the frt DS hit the shift linkage directly under it... absolutely no way to make it work with the D44... so I swapped in a D60 and it fit... hope I can make the 6r80 fit...it's quite a bit wider I have been told...

camp9k, hope your surgery goes well. All I've been told is follow the surgeons and PT tech's rules to the letter. Those that don't seem to be going back for surgery again... :(

Good luck!

I am going to attach this 6r80 thread to my build thread.

I will put page and post #'s on the FIRST POST of my original thread to identify easily where my 14 bolt rear end build starts, my engine build thread is located, and where my 6r80/Atlas thread is located.

Well it's been 5 months and I can lift a grinder and move a few things around so I'm mocking up the 6r80, Atlas adapter, and a small gap. :)

I think it's gonna work. My 1410 rear flange mount CV style DS will be at 31 degrees at a full 16" droop.

My front 1350 CV (no room for a 7 1/2" long 1410 CV joint up front) will be at 31 degrees at full 16" droop with an even 100" wheelbase.

This is figured on paper allowing for tcase angle. Two degrees favorable on the rear, two degrees not in my favor in the front...

Parts by the weekend:

6r80 to SBF bellhousing adapter coming

6r80 adapter to allow the stock converter to work with a SBF flywheel

Sure Cool Temp Control Bypass Valve to allow full coolant flow at all times. OE defaults to closed loop which eliminates coolant flow to the oil coolers therefore burning up your trans when it fails. Talking to SureCool today and the sales guy says they send more than 10 of these a week to Saudi Arabia!!! lol

Oil coolant adapter allowing the use of AN fittings directly to the coolant lines so you don't have to use stock lines

Motorcraft filter

I should have all the internals installed in less than a week (time allowing).
