72 Explorer sport trail rig. Great build and history. One last attempt to sell as is before it goes under the knife for a restoration.

It has all of the original paperwork, window sticker and warranty books. Turns out it is a pretty rare find as it was a Tampico Yellow Explorer sport model which they only made one year and had the random pattern strip cloth interior. It would be a neat one to restore but it also has some cool history. The owner was friends with Jim Creel who then started Wildhorses 4x4. They did a lot of early prototyping on this rig and it was featured in several magazines as well as on the cover of Wildhorse sales material.

So the dilemma is leave it as is or restore it? Either way it is a great rig with a lot of future potential if someone wanted to change it.

The body is solid it has minimal driver side floor rust and that is it.
Rear body armour
Rock sliders
Early Protofab trail bumpers with spare carrier and can/cooler rack.
Front has a 8274 warn winch.
4 point front cage
Mastercraft seats front and rear seats
Tuffy center console
Tuffy glove box
Stereo, amps speakers and sub
VHF Radio
Dash was recently rewired with all new switches
Dakota digital gauges
The Original Glove box was kept and is in storage.
Fuel injected 351C with a NP 435 4 speed
Klune underdrive and Dana 20. Crawl ratio is ridiculous.
Narrowed Dana 60 rear axle and Dana 44 front. 4.56 gears front and rear ARB lockers front and rear and an ARB compressor
Front has one tone steering and Chev disc brakes.
Crossover shock mount in the rear. it does need an new anti wrap bar as the one that is on it is too tight after I replaced the rear springs and binds at high torque but not a big deal.
It has an on board welder that works well with a switched high amp alternator.
Dual batteries with a switchover.
It needs some work but is in pretty good shape.
It has the original doors or your choice of snoop half doors, trail doors or soft doors.
37" Toyo tires(5) on slotted alum 15" wheels.
LED lights front and rear.
Dual hoop front shock mount.
Duff long arms.
Always gets the attention from the others when running trails. This is a steal at 35,000 Please no negotiating as I am at the least I will take. Other than paint it looks pretty good. I has a different hood on it since I took the pics. I will update that.

Great looking rig man. Where did you get the doors in the pics?
They came ith it and the previous owner had them unused for many years until I installed them. I think I could sell those for my price alone with as many requests I have had to sell them! :)

Those look like the old "Snoop" doors that were available for awhile.

I bet. I'd have them picked up tomorrow if you'd sell just them. Lol and thanks for the reply.

Bump for you. I really like this truck. I wish I wheeled more it would be perfect for me! If it was on the east coast I would be all over it. Looks like a more than fair price, good luck with the sale.!

OK time to part it out and restore it! Snoop doors are popular but don't know a price yet. bumpers and Warn 8274/50 winch are off, corner guards are off. Let me know what you are interested in if local or can arrange pick up.
