Are you not gonna buy bajafresh's beautiful uncut green one? I'm in love with that thing -- you could have beauty and the beast ;) Did you decide if you're coming to ocbr? Would love to see your new silver one.

Yes, that is certainly the same one that just sold at Mecum in Dallas 2 weeks ago. It is a dealer flipping it.

Nice, but I am not a fan of the Ranger with a soft top. Looks a bit odd IMO, and I would not want the carpet and side panels to get caught in the rain!

I also think the rocker trim on top of the Ranger strip is very odd. I have never seen that before, and would be surprised if that was factory installed (maybe as a special order?). Maybe, but odd either way.

The Ranger stripes are painted on which when up close in person never give the correct look as the factory style decal. They look good in the pics, but are not quite correct which is how I can tell they are painted and not the ones we reproduce. Of course, I'm a bit partial to the original decals which is why we went to the effort to start making them for two of the Rangers we had rather than painting them on.

The $19.5K auction price was a steal IMO.

Fairly nice truck. Looked it over at Mecum. Good options, roll bar and painted on stripes not to my liking. Paint was "ok" and probably a 10 to 15 year old job with a little wear. Exterior and trim otherwise a little weathered and could use some attention/polishing/ding repair/replacement to be perfect. The original spare tire cover was in great shape. Interior was very nice other than the fact that the roll bar ruined the original side panels. There's no hardtop. $19,500 + fees was about right for it considering what would have to be done and redone to make it right. Very nice driver. Probably a #3 to #3-. $25K or less would be a good/fair buy.

This goes to show that no matter how many pics you have, it is always better to see them up close and personal! Some things can not be seen in pics (or are intentionally avoided by camera angles and photos selected) and sometimes truly nice Broncos do not even appear as nice as they are (but usually the other way around).

By the pics I thought the paint might have been nicer. It is a shame that the soft top brackets were mounted through the Ranger interior panels. The door panels also show signs of water damage.

Good point also about the auction fees, I forgot about that. Is it a 10% buyers premium at Mecum?

To get it to a top level original would still cost a decent chunk, but a lot of buyers out there would be very happy with it as a nice, relatively original looking driver as is.

6%. http://mecum.com/auctions/auction_detail.cfm?AUCTION_ID=DA0912

Most would be happy with it as is. Great color combo and options. I can't help when looking at a vehicle thinking what it would take and cost to make it near perfect. In the case of this one it would be ideal for someone that wants a really nice driver and has a decent tolerance for imperfection. I would estimate another $15K to $20K to redo what needs to be to make it a #2+ vehicle. If after a show quality example it would be cheaper to buy one already done or an all original untouched but rust free example and go from there because you would be redoing the same things and entry should cost less. At least with an untouched one you know what you have and probably won't run into surprises and shortcuts that have been done by others during a previous restoration attempt.

Very true.

It is almost always cheaper to buy one finished how you want it. This is especially true if you are paying for someone else to do part of all of the restoration!

Here is a very similar one we restored and owned for about 13 years and sold last year which is again for sale. Like I have said and the seller included in his ad, it is not the typical $20-$30K "Barrett Jackson" auction type Bronco. Unfortunately, most people do not make the distinction and only look on the very surface and at price and do not consider what goes into higher level vehicle to make them stand apart.

It's that age old thing of "Original", "Restored", "Mod-ed" or what ever. Repainted and Power Brakes ain't "Original"!! "Restored" would mean replacing that orange overflow bottle (that hurts me)!! "Mod-ed" can take it anywhere??? I'm not sure where this rig fits???;D;D;D

I'd classify it as refurbished with some tasteful and a few tasteless mods

Am I the only one that noticed the wrong transfer case shifter? Shouldn't a 73 have the "J" pattern shifter? I don't claim to be an expert, could it be an early production 73?
