We've all seen dozens if not hundreds of build threads. What I'd like to do on this one is share a couple of tricks I've discovered in the build that might help someone on a future Explorer 5.0 EDIS build.
First a bit of background.

I found this EB literally in the back of buddies shop. It hadn't moved in over 20 years. He has shop and yard full of projects. many of them EB's it took me two months but finally I convinced him to let me buy the uncut.

Next I took it apart, had the frame and tub sandblasted and put it back together.
Nothing special here. Painted the underside, engine bay and inner tub Black, the final paint will be original black

Here are few pics of install tricks
PCM in the engine bay using the Escape box, fully enclosed made of Aluminum
Using explorer stock accelerator cable and bracket
Using explorer airbox
Gary's fine work on relay portion of the harness mounted on DS inner fender alongside starter solenoid.
BC Bronco's Explorer AC bracket and mini Sanden
Making use of Explorer fuel lines
V-6 explorer radiator
Not shown, but I pulled the entire starter harness. relocate the Battery to the DS and you have room for the stock air cleaner.

on the todo list...
mate 4r70w to T-case
mount the couple
Utilize stock explorer shift cable and mate to Stock EB auto column
utilize factory EB speedo cable frame bracket to anchor the cable and stock 4r70w bracket on the other end
install 6 way efi valve wired into Centech harness
plumb filters and fuel pump.

So far having a blast on this build. Shouldn't be too long before we turn the key.

Final goal;
'73 Black with chrome trim including beltline trim, uncut, no lift, stock wheels , hubcaps, AC, Wimbeldon white halfcab, bench seat, insulated, carpeted, lined, no tire carrier "97 Explorer distributerless EFI, 4R70W, single 2.5" exhaust, just your average grocery getter...

I'll post some more as i make progress.

It angles down. My hoses route behind the cross member. Had to splice two. Not super happy with it but it will work fine

How about some details on the Escape ECM box? Also interested in the fittings on used on the Explorer fuel lines. What are they and where did you find them?

Got it Running this weekend!

Installed the Tranny...Hint used an ATV jack = easiest Trans install ever. hung the T-case, connected shifter,

Started it this weekend. First try it turned over but no fire. Spent a few minutes on the phone with Gary EFI Guy and figured out I had used a power source that was ON/Run but not ON/Start/Run. made a quick correction and she fired right up and ran smooth!

I had used the Orange / Radio circuit from Centech. First realized that circuit had no power whatsoever, only to find out there was no fuse installed. Once corrected she fired but wouldn't run. From there figured out that i needed start run power. Used the Blue IGN PWR wires from the Centech Engine harness and BOOM. Fired up and ran.

On the fuel line connection ordered them from Summit, BC Bronco's sells them as well.

I have the column shift sorted out using the Explorer shift cable. Just have to weld the ball bracket to the EB shift arm and that will be done.
Need to hang the cross member and bolt to frame brackets in new location. Attach drive shaft and then bring it to exhaust exhaust shop and then Paint.

Lots of buttoning up left to do, but super happy that it fires up and runs!

oops for got details on the PCM Box. I think I posted earlier it was from a 2006 Escape. That's wrong Found it on a 2002 Ford Escape. I believe the 2001/2 and maybe three escapes and Mazda Tributes will work. At some point they switched to the three harness connectors from one. My box came from an escape with a PCM box with the same plug as the one in the Explorers. Fully enclosed aluminum Box. Easy to get from donor. You have to remove the windshield wipers, and exterior windshield cowl. From there remove two 8 mm bolts and remove the box.

Are you planning to use the built-in tranny cooler? If not, you can get the manual trans radiator and it has the lower hose comming straight out.

can you post a pic of the battery in its new location. I am building the same setup as you. I bought a complete running mountaineer so I have everything I need (except radiator). Is there a write up on the v-6 radiator swap?
