I also changed to a TrickFlow R upper & lower intake per Ed's suggestion due to the flow restrictions r/t the lightning gt40 set up. I guess I'll hang onto the gt40 setup for a future smaller displacement project.

Looks like you're building a nasty little Bronc.

Here's hoping!!! i've had a bunch of 4 wheel drives, but for some reason always missed the Bronco's. i'm not gonna build something I don't love, and I'm a Ford guy so a Bronco makes the most sense!

Well I went to my buddies today and picked up the Trick Flow R upper & lower. He said he had a neighbor that had a bunch of Mustang parts too, so we swung by there...& I bought a Downs "Bread Box' upper for GT40 lowers too. I am starting to think I may be a hoarder!!! I now have 4 GT40 lowers 2x 351's & 2x 302's, 1 Tubular GT40 upper, 1 polished Explorer upper, this Downs piece & the Trickflow pieces. I only have 2 pushrod Ford motors ?:?

Little more progress today. Got the ARP head, mains, oil pump drive, balancer, & camshaft bolts bought. Also got the intake, exhaust, head gaskets bought. This damn motor is gonna cost a damn fortune!!!

Also finalized the size of my new MAN Building. It's going to be 30x46 on a 40x60 pad. The 10' section down the side will be covered (lean 2 style) for my trailers & such. Also adding a 12x25 house attached garage to the already attached 21x21 garage (my truck doesn't fit ). I'm pretty fired up about these additions, but they will slow progress for awhile though.

If your edel heads haven't been gone through, replace valve stem seals and check the valve face-to-seat contact width and pattern.

I've been through several sets (Ford and Chevy) that leave something to be desired. Once corrected, they were a great head.

I'm having to replace the valve springs for the new camshaft anyway, so I had plans to do all of that during the process. Your comment just makes me feel even better about spending the $$$. Thanks!!!;)

Only waiting on the actual camshaft. Everything else for the 418 build is acquired except oil pump, rings, & rod & main bearings. As soon as I have the camshaft in hand, it's off to the machine shop. Come in Ed Curtis!!! :)

Technically not related to the build, but I sold my H/D Street Glide 2 weeks ago and I went and got a Polaris Ranger 800 Crew this weekend...Lot more help doing Honey-Do stuff around the house with this... Oh, and my new little helper loves to ride in it :)

I also picked up my seats and center console from CB Member, Berg Bronco (Super nice guy), received my 23 gallon fuel tank (looks to be a Tom's Bronco piece) & power brake m/c, booster & firewall bracket from member Jeff10 (Most thorough information giver ever...I will definitely look forward to you coming to visit your friends here in Alabama so we can meet). So far, everyone I've dealt with on this build has been really great to deal with.

Thanks to all!

FTI camshaft finally arrived today. I'll be taking the motor & all my pieces/parts to the machine shop very soon. Finally...2 months to get this camshaft, so I hope it's all I've been led to believe having this custom ground shaft made.
