Hello.

I recently put 33 in tires on my Bronco explorer. It still has the original power steering pump. I just read an article that the pump is recommended for up to 28 in tires.

Should I take the 33's off? Maybe put on smaller tires? Or will the pump hold?

I dont want to damage the pump. I dont do any sort of off roading or mudding in my Bronco.

I wouldnt worry about the pump especailly if your not going offroad. I personally never had any issues with the stock pump and 33in tires even offroad. For what your doing you'll be fine. when and if it fails you can chose wether to upgrade or stick with the stock one. While there are better pumps out there the stock pump works there are plenty of people still running them.

I ran with the stock pump and 35" tires for years on the street without any problems. I upgraded to a Saginaw pump eventually because I was making a few other upgrades. You should be fine with the stock pump and 33" tires.

Go with the saginaw pump if it ever goes out...I am on my 2nd pump in 10 years running 35" tires. It only gave me fits when i was on the trail in 4wd. I'm fixin to go full explorer front dress, which is another option, but it can get pricey, and it leads to other upgrades.(4G alternator, replacement of the amp guage to volt meter.....)
