What do you do when your 83 year old friend calls and say “we need a wheeling trip. Would you take us?” Of course the only answer is of course! When and where do you want to go? So we made a plan, drug his jeep out of my garage, got it dusted off and ready to go then we loaded up!

Ken and Mary at the bottom of the caldera at Capulin Volcano in Capulin NM.

I got a prize from the park ranger for not hitting any curbs and parking straight. I will say the parking area was not built for 34’ trailers with a long bed crew cab truck, it barely fits. 😂

Ken is a Vietnam Vetran. We had an emotional but much appreciated and fantastic stop at the Vietnam War Memorial in Angle Fire NM. If you haven’t been it is really a place of remembrance and healing, very humbling to visit.

Ken was a door gunner and crew chief on a U1. Felt honored to take his picture with one. He’s told me a lot of stories over the years about his time and experiences there.

Big thank you to Ken for his service.

Looking forward to dinner tomorrow night & meeting Ken. I missed Nam by a couple yrs but very much appreciated these honorable men & women who weren't thanked enough for what they did for our country. Several of my car buddies are Nam vets... some days aren't as great as others for them... Great guys.

CYA tomorrow Steve.

Steve, are you trying to see if anyone's paying attention when you parked by that Super EGO truck. 😂 Been in the news a lot lately! Looks like it's gonna be cool out there this week!

Cool place! Spent several hours sleeping at the Raton pass truck stop on the way to Phoenix in 87. Would of made a nice side trip on the way home if I'd known about it.

Great day wheeling with Steve, Deana, Ken & Mary. Fun day...ALL day. :)
Weather was changing every 10 min. Rain, blustery, sunshine, hail, sun, wind storm, rain and SNOW just barely above us as we wereI90 headed back to crossing Kane Creek & done for the day.

Ken's great behind the wheel... obviously has seat time on the rocks! :)

Here's a few (20) pics of the 3 of us on Cliff Hangar today.

I was watching the weather out there and wondered what your day was like.
Great pictures. Ken and Mary are amazing.
