I was watching the weather out there and wondered what your day was like.
Great pictures. Ken and Mary are amazing.
FWIW I was just looking at NWS records and Saturday was 42⁰ and 78⁰ @ Archs NP. Normal range is 46⁰ to 72⁰. Moab is listed but all that comes up is the normal range and above and below average ranges. Doesn't have daily records for some reason?

Since one of the goals was to find Indian ruins we went to Edge of the Cedars state park in Blanding UT it is truly an underrated treasure.

Love that ladder.(s) 😂 I was making some tracks at Natural Bridges NM and ran across Fry Canyon 50 miles west of Blanding. Some ruins up on a cliff up on the canyon. Short drive off the highway to view it across the narrow canyon. I saw some pics from up close but I suspect they had to hike up the canyon and climb to it. Easy to check out if if you get that way. Been admiring Kens YJ. Puts my 04 TJ to shame!

More ruins today. We gave the bronco and jeep a rest, hopped on the Ram and went to Hovenweep National Monument. We had a great time, made memories and paid homage to to great history. The chiseled stone there is impressive, not to mention the size and scale.

Such beautiful country with so much history. Going to do the hole in the rock trail Monday.

Keep posting.
That rascal gets kinda gnarly! Saw a video where a guy almost flopped his Cherokee when the right front wheel dropped in a big hole while coming up an obstacle.

I really want to do the hole in the rock trail. have done hole in the rock road, and want to do it again.
Besides the slot canyons I ran across Hurricane Wash/ Coyote Canyon that isn't too far from Dance Hall rock. Beautiful hike with 4 arches if you go all the way. I'd really like to take a hike, but I doubt my knees would like the downhill that's necessary to get to it. Up is one thing, down is a whole different animal!

I have more questions than answers.

This is a long term bucket list trip for me. Luckily I have a bunch of family that are excited to go. First heard about this trail when doing the EJS in the mid 90s. Like you I have done the road a number of times, and the hike up from lake Powell once. We tried a couple dates last year and couldn't make it happen. This year we changed our approach and are just going to do it. Should have family from 3 possibly 4 states joining. Also like you we are breaking up the vacation in several categories seeing different areas with people coming and going when able.

I hope you can make it happen. Of course you could meet us at the trailhead Sunday night and join us on the trail Monday, Tuesday .

Depending on how old the video is some of the obstacles have changed through the years like everywhere else. One of my cousins did it with a group on motorcycles last fall. Several injuries with one needing a hospital stay. As with everything a little uncommon sense should help.

We have a few that are going to meet us on other parts of the trip after watching several videos, we have no problem with walking instead of riding. We appreciate them doing so and not over stressing themselves. We don't like forcing people to do things they are uncomfortable with.

Back to yellers pictures.

Little few pics from San Juan Hill in the above sign picture. These folks were tough this “wagon road” is carved out of solid rock and was brutal to climb with loaded wagons.

No one told them that they couldn't do it, that it wasn't possible.

Never mind diseases, I suspect it's also why their life-spans weren't terribly long.
