9 inch gear install!, and an Axle question.

So!, Dropping 4.56 gears in my third member. Got it back together(per ford shop manual..) set my lash set at .009 and heres a pic of my wear pattern. First try on a 9 inch gear swap...it wasnt that bad.

My axle question is about the ring that is pressed on after the bearing. Ive got the correct sealed bearing....but that ring has a smaller outside diameter than the one thats on there....is that a big deal?

Nice job. Are you loading the ring gear(putting pressure on it) when you run the pattern?

As far as the keeper OD doesn't matter.

No im just doing what the tech data said....in fact before I put it in i reviewed the data one more time...book says to loosen the pinion side adjuster till its off the bearing cup.....then tighten the ring gear side till theres no lash...then tighten the pinion side untill you get the corect back lash...I double checked cause i wanted to make sure the bearing pre load was corrrect.
