I'm doing an Explorer Swap with 4R70W, Can I use my J-Shift Dana 20 w/advance adaptor's kit? Is there a Twinstick made for this or do I have to find a T-Shift Dana 20?

Also, who makes a crossmember for this swap?

Drive shafts: How much? Where to get them?

Thanks,
Wade

Yes you can use your J shift with the adapter. J.B Fab makes a good twin stick. You make a crossmember Tom Woods is a good choice for shafts.

A couple of venders ( I can't remember who) take your stock cross member and modify it to work, and modify the mounts so you can use your stock holes on the frame but moved back a couple of inches. And remember to check your front drive shaft clearance to the trans pan. I got an 2" diameter front shaft and it worked out good.

Ok, I've read about the front drive shaft clearance issues, but can the rear drive shaft be reused or does it need to be replaced as well?

4R70W and its Dana 20 adapter is longer than your current set up. So it is likely that you will need a longer front shaft and a shorter rear one.

modding the cross member is pretty easy. I made new frame brackets by extending the stock ones. I think there are some pics on this forum if you search on 4r70w crossmember.

I used the 205 case instead of the 20. it was a bolt on without any adapters. also the jb twin stick was also a bolt on using the stock floor hole, no cutting the floor. I built a T case mount.

I worked with JB to help develop the twin stick for d20 + 4r70w. It should be bolt on at this point with a little cutting on the tunnel.
