got a few braking issues with the 76 bronco:

1. parking brake doesn't work. the wire and peddle are fine, just no braking action. any tips on how i can fix? any cheap parking brake mechanisms out there?

2. brakes sometimes squeal when i depress pedal. i've got front disc brakes. does this mean that the pads need replacing?

thanks.

1. Are your rear brakes properly ajusted? Do they work? the only difference in the rear brakes and emergency brakes is how they are activated.

2. May need replacing or may not have clips installed.

What I susupect is your front brake pads are worn out because your rear brakes arnt ajusted and the front is doing all the work. Just a guess.

my 77 had some problems at one time. If the brakes squeal you probably need to replace them before they score your rotors and drums. You might need to adjust your rear brakes to the point that they just about touch the drum. You also need to ajust the tension on the equilizer bar and make sure it doesn't bind to one side, mine has a problem with that. Also check the parking brake cable retainers going into your backplates, I had one that moves in and out when the parking brake is applied. Hope that helps ?:?
