A few tips if you are spraying tintable Raptor Liner

I thought I might share a couple things I've learned spraying the tintable raptor liner 4 times.

-You will need 1 pint of pigment. Make sure that you tell the paint guy not to add the binder. It will only be about 8 ounces which doesn't seem enough but it is.

-While at the paint store get a half gallon mixing bucket.

I was worried the first time I did it about making sure that I had consistent tinting in each of the four bottles so I dumped out all the bottles into one bucket and added the hardener and tint. This created a big mess as the liner is very think and doesn't pour well, so it was difficult to get it back in the bottles.

The instructions say to fill each bottle to a certain height with hardener and to the next level with the pigment. Unfortunately, the bottles are black and it makes it nearly impossible to see where the lines are. So, what I think works best is to pour all the hardener into the half gallon bucket. This is 32 ounces and then add the pigment to the hardener. This will take you to 40 ounces. Next you then pour 10 ounces of the hardener/pigment into each bottle. I suggest not mixing it all at once, because it only has an hour pot life, plus if you have any left you can pour the hardener back into its container and save it to mix it up for any future scratches and scrapes you might need to fix.

A few other tips.....

Some paint lines like Spies already has the binder already in the tints on the machine. Make sure 100% it does not have binder mixed in. Don't totally rely on the guy in the store knows what he's talking about. Ask for the manager of the store.

You said you will need a pint but need 8 ounces??? 8 ounces is a 1/2 pint. If you only need 8 ounces they can make 8 ounces, no need to buy a whole pint.

If you only need 2 ounces in each bottle of bedliner ask the paint store to put 2 ounces of paint in 4 touch up bottles. That way you won't have a risk of color mismatch and no need to try to pour back into the bottles.

I used the same tint I sprayed my truck with - binder and all - came out great! I sued the black bottles but don't remember any measuring issues. Biggest tip I can add is to have an assistant mixing and shaking the next batch as you are spraying. It takes a good 5-10 minutes of shaking the bottles to get them ready to spray which is just about the time it takes to spray a bottle (maybe a bit less)

It's really a pretty simple process, don't over complicate it! Follow the MFG's directions

Hey Allen I meant that if you order a pint without the binder you end up with 8 ounces of pigment. Good idea about splitting the color
