A fuel pressure regulator symptoms?

What are the signs of a bad fuel pressure regulator? As said before I am having a few issues with my EFI set up.

How can you tell or test if a fuel pressure regulator is bad,..and what are the signs or symptoms??

I 'THINK' you us a pressure gauge on the valve on the fuel rail. I am NOT sure though.
