I can't believe I bought another one. %)Here's the back story:
Chicken farmer buys a stocker apparently uses it very little(1971). It is then sold to his nephew (1981) and (now retired) and he puts a plow on it and uses it for plowing until the shifter linkage breaks. Parks it in his barn. (1986). Said it last run 10 years ago, no oil on the dipstick. It has 11,247 original miles. It still has the original tires from the day it was sold to the original owner and there is about 90% tread left on them!
Condition: It is typical New England rust....everywhere. Not a solid panel on it. Frame is decent, motor is all there. Lots of scaling rust, so this is no peach. It was kind of funny that when I closed the hood sounded like somebody dumping dirt on a tin roof. Even the guy selling had to laugh a little. I think he was amazed that anybody wanted to buy this thing. The cap was in near perfect condition. Go figure.
Stopped by Taskers place of work for a short visit, was nice to finally meet face to face.
So here's the plan, I have one that used to be blue, and am going to repaint blue. I now have one that is red. I am going to go with the theme "Fire and Ice". I get the Ice, Mrs. gets the Fire.
Ice is going to be the wheeler/fun summertime bikini rig. Fire is going to be the winter stocker rig.
Fire is very unique, I noticed some interesting things I have never seen before. It has a bench seat, and a bulkhead right behind the bench. Typical for a half cab, but not for a full topped truck. Also the rear lift gate had this notch in it for a little tab on the tailgate. Kind of like a stopper/aligner of sorts. I will post a pic as soon as I get it home.
I am going to get up there in the next couple of days to get it and the plow and will post more pics of it when the time comes.
I have officially bitten off more then I can chew.;D
