I recently installed an AOD transmission in my rig and used Advance Adapters Kit #50-2704A . This kit uses an adapter along with a clocking ring. I went to the JB Fabrication Website to order a set of twin sticks. When I looked at the available J Pattern twin stick kits all I find are kits that are for use with AA #50-2704 or 50-2704E . There is a another set for an AOD for use with AA #50-9920 or AA #50-4303 those two show just a clocking ring on a 4x4 AOD transmission. So my question has anyone ran into this problem and can I use the first JB sticks for 50-2704 or 50-2704E with my 50-2704A kit . Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

I know I had to modify my JB Fab twin sticks to fit my AOD and John has since changed his setup to fit the AOD better. I would call him directly and ask I'm which kit you need.

Hopefully Advance Adapters has corrected the one huge mistake in the AOD adapter kit instruction sheet where they state the AOD with their adapter is the same overall length as a stock Bronco V8 drivetrain. It is not...the AOD/AA setup is 1.5" longer than stock. I think that is what may have caused the twin sticks to not be bolt on in earlier generations. When I bought mine, Jon re-made them after I gave him some measurements, and the second set fit perfect in a stock body hole.

Anyone know why AA has revised the AOD adapter to now include a clocking ring? Did they shorten the adapter to make up the difference in length with the clocking ring, or is the whole setup even longer now? I saw this last month with the clocking ring and had been wondering. TIA

I got my AA Kit in May 13' and it had the clocking ring then. Seemed like when I ordered one of the guys at WH told me there would be short wait because AA had redesigned their kit and WH was waiting for them to come in . Jon fixed me up with the right set of twin sticks for the AA kit with the clocking ring. If I am not mistaken he had like four different sets of sticks that he sent me pictures of before I ordered mine. The adapter that came in the kit didn't appear to be any different then the old adapter, so I am not sure the reason for the newer design .

Thanks for the info. The only reason I can see to add the clocking ring is perhaps that new, revised kit is a bolt on for 4wd AOD trans' without having to swap the output shaft. If you are starting with a 2wd AOD, you would still need to swap the output shaft.

What is the overall length of the kit you have with the clocking ring?

Mattt,
Sorry I just got online, I will measure the adapter and clocking ring tomorrow night. I got to climb under my rig to rework a fuel line so I will be under there and grab a measurement.

Mattt,
I measured the adapter and clocking ring, measured about 7 1/4 inches . It was kinda hard getting a super accurate measurement since there was stuff in the way.

I've been looking into this.Near as I can determine the adapter housing is 6" and the clocking ring is between 1 3/8" &1 7/16" .If I did my math right the whole assy(including trans).is 3 5/8"longer than the stock assy.Does anyone think this will create drive line angle issues?
