Aftermarket 9" parts ID, Is it a Daytona support?

I picked up a used Strange 9". 4.56 gear, air locker. 1350 yoke. This has passed through a few hands and I don't have a build sheet. At some point the U-joint broke and the yoke is messed up. I got it off and it is a normal 28 spline pinion. Shopping for a replacement and it looks like it matters if I have a Daytona pinion support or not. It is an iron support and forged yoke. No numbers on any of those parts. I called Strange since I have the serial number for the 3rd member, but they didn't build it. It is just there case and someone else filled it with parts.

How can I tell if this is a Daytona support? I suspect it is based on the decent parts I see, but would rather not just guess at it. I have the old yoke (with damaged ears). Is there a simple measurement I can do to tell which one it is?

It is impossible to know if it is an aftermarket Daytona support when it is assembled in the case.
If it is a factory Ford support then the part number and machined face will tell you.

If the yoke and seal are off, and you can measure the distance from the outer bearing to the end of the pinion threads ...then you can determine whether it is Daytona or not. The Daytona will be about 3/16 shorter than the standard. (I can go measure one in the shop if you need me to...)

If you want to know if you have a Daytona support, the easiest way is to pull the pinion, and check the inner bearing. If it is a HM89443 then it's Daytona. If the inner and outer are the same size M88048, then it's standard.

If you want to know if you have a Daytona YOKE, then refer to this thread. https://classicbroncos.com/forums/threads/1310-pinion-yoke-long-vs-short.324707/

It's an aftermarket support from what I can tell, no markings.

I have the yoke off and can measure 1.973" with a very near caliper. I've read the 3/16 or 1/4" shorter. But I can't find what the stock number should be. Don't have the initial reference point to know what 0.200~ish shorter would be.

Thought of pulling the whole support, but don't want to open the can of worms any further than I need to. I'm not even planning on replacing the seal (yes, I know that is wrong).

I read that link, lots of info, didn't see what I was looking for.

If I could find a bearing to end of spline measurement for a known bearing support, that sounds like it would answer the question. Off my single measurement,
a ~2.2" is stock and ~2.0" is Daytona.
Or ~2.0" is stock and ~1.8" is Daytona.

While at it I measured the nut mating surface to bearing mating surface on the yoke. Just sitting on the bench and stick the caliper down the splines until it reaches the bench. 2.0845". I don't know if that is short or long. All sorts of places reference short and long, but nobody puts out any numbers.

OK, think I found it. You never find it until you ask for help finding it.
https://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/c58_ford_9_inch.html is my source.
The "Q" measurement. Neapco stock replacement shows it at 2.42". The Sonnax shows a 2.130".
The Sonnax has a spacer ring included. If it were a .250 spacer that appears to be pretty common, 2.380". That is pretty close to the Neapco size.
I'm going to call it a Daytona support. I might just get the Sonnax one with the spacer anyway.

I just went out pulled the yoke from a stock (non daytona) support. I measure 2.295 inches from the shoulder at the end of the splines to the bearing inner race.

So I'm going to say that non-daytona is ~2.3 inches. Your 1.973 number is about 5/16 shorter. So I'm going to say you have a Daytona support.

Thank you for the confirmation. I'll be ordering parts this afternoon.
This place is always good for finding ways to spend money.
