Aftermarket Bumper Removal

My bumper is stuck in the framerails. Probably because of rust and stuff.
It is a BailieBilt front bumper that has the long tabs that go into the frame rail.

What's best and safest way to remove it?

I have ideas in my head but I don't want to damage anything.
(Bumper is tough, it's the post or column that I was thinking to attach it to while I drive in reverse that I'm worried about).
I do remember having a tough time getting it to go all the way in when I installed it, and yes all bolts are removed.

Does it have pad eyes for D-rings on the front? If so, you may be able to get a big slide hammer to knock it out. Just a thought.

Thanks!
That's an idea to try. I do have a big slidehammer.

What was wrong with the idea of tying it to a tree and backing away?

I don't have a big enough tree close by. There is a Telephone pole in front my driveway but.... and there is the main column that supports the house, don't want to use that. I would leave the winch on the bumper and winch it but it may rip the power cables out of the battery when the bumper frees up.
There is my brother's Chevy but we already know what will happen if I use that as anchor..

Wrap a nylon strap around it then with a chain hoist tied off to a power pole...sinch it out slowly...set the brake and wheel chock before winching it out...also....make sure no other bolts are hidden first.

You got those bolts that are deep in the frame right? I was taking off a front Bbilt bumper and kicked it and cussed it and finally found that one extra bolt up in the passenger front. You're much smarter than me so I'm sure that's not it.

big heavy hammer and a piece of 2x4. slide 2x4 up between bumper and grille on outside of one frame rail and start hammering away on 2x4 just below grille and bumper where you can get full swing and a solid hit. watch bumper when it starts to slide out a little then pull out 2x4 and move to outside of other frame rail. keep moving 2x4 back and forth to opposite outside frame rail as bumper works its way out. about half way out you should be able to grab bumper and pull it out.

Next time you install a bumper that slides in to a tight receptical like that, make sure you use a liberal about of KY...., uh, lubricant. Makes insertion and removal much easier.

Sounds like a problem Mad!

I think winching sounds like the best option, you have control to just bump it till the bumper starts to move. You could even loosely strap the bumper to the Bronco so it can't come all the way out.

Try heat! I'd try a blow torch, should help loosen. As its warm, hit with 5 lb hammer around frame rail. Don't have to hit hard, just enuff to break the rust from the bumper tube to ur frame. Just my 2 cents.
