Anyone in the Phoenix area have recommendations for alignment shops? I've called a couple and they either don't seem to have the equipment to handle larger tires or they don't strike me as very competent with older vehicles.

Thanks!

Have you looked at Spectrac suspension in Gilbert. I had my fullsize done there and was happy with the work.

Jon: He may not be the most convenient for you but I've used Campus Alignment in Tempe for years for Broncitis. 480-967-8390. Corner of Scottsdale Road and Curry. His name is Bob Frost.

There is (was) and alignment shop on 19th Ave just north of Deer Valley. I used them quite a few years ago. They seemed pretty competent at the time. I can't remember the name of the shop right now. I'll take a ride past there this evening, and post up the name of the shop (assuming their still there).

Edit: Google Maps is a wonderful thing.

I think Jacks is who my father and I used to use. As I recall they were quite good.

Just looking at their shop, it appears to be old school type of place. I'm planning on stopping by later this week to ask them what they know about EB's. Otherwise I will give a try to one of the good suggestions above like Gary's. Actually there is another old fashioned looking alignment shop on 7th St between (I think) IS and Thomas. Probably I'm wrong but I just have a better feeling about the places that look like they been doing this type of stuff for about 50 years.

True, but that only deals with toe. Mine needs some camber adjustment. I'm just not sure how much. But when I take my old tires off they almost don't even stand up on their own because they're so worn on one side. :-X

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll probably try either Gary's or Jack's based on proximity to me.

I'm pretty sure it was Jacks that adjusted the "non-adjustable" camber on my Dad's old pickup by making minor tweaks to the entire axle housing. That was a long time ago though.

Well, Gary's is out of business. :( The doors are boarded up and there's a "for lease" sign.

Since I'm in North Phoenix I went to Network Alignment on Cave Creek just N of Thunderbird. Someone had emailed me that recommendation and I found a few references to them on some other 4x4 forums.

I talked to Scott, who had a really nice 70's F150 Custom sitting out front. So obviously he's familiar with our steering systems. He put it up on the rack for me and everything checked out within spec so no charge.

When I asked about my old tires being so worn he said it was probably the toe or worn bushings, not the camber.

Here are my specs just for kicks:

Caster = 2.7 deg left & 3.0 deg right
Camber = 0.9 deg left & 0.7 deg right
Toe = 1/32" left & 1/16" right

Seems like the toe could be a little more, but I really don't get any wander with the new tires so I guess I'll leave it.

I just remember where the shop is but don't remember the name. He did a amazing job on my 70 mustang. The guy was a former race car driver or something. He aligns buses, cars, trucks everything back when I went to him. He is in scottsdale on Mcdowell Rd about 3/4 mile east of granite reef rd. on the left side of the street in a commerical plaza type thing. Its close to the 101 if that helps you out.
EDIT LOOKED IT UP:
BOB JORDAN'S ALIGNMENT & BRAKES SPC
8718 E Mcdowell Rd # 3 Scottsdale, AZ 85257-3913 -
(480) 945-2040

Has good reviews on google too.
