Hello,

I am having a serious situation with my new truck. I just replaced the Carb w/ electric choke, intake, coil, wires, plugs, volt. reg., starter sol., roller rockers, push rods, cap, rotor, plugs.

Everytime I crank the motor to start it for the first time, my lead wire from my alternator gets red hot! And even melts the casing on the wire! And once this happens, the battery is completely drained!

What do I do? Or where do I begin? Can this be a bad ground situation, need a larger gauge wire? It was working fine before I tore down the top of the motor.

Please help, Just want to get to enjoy the truck someday!

Thanks!,

Dean

no it did not. I hooked the + to the coil. The new coil is a flame thrower it puts out i think about 45K volts. Should I have upgraded the lead wire to the alt.? I just dosen't make sense why the wire would burn up during starting? Thanks for you help!
