DO NOT buy a 2012, they had numerous head issues and lemon issues, lots of recalls and under table manufacturer warranty replacements. Buy a 2013 or newer. My 2013 Rubi armored up for the rocks is THE funnest vehicle I have owned to drive around town or up a rock, or 500 miles on a trip. Very comfortable, easy to drive, great vis, descent stereo and in 2015's even better I heard. My 2012 was a lemon, which is why i now have a 2013 at the same cost:) Your great price 2012 may be that or someone else lemon return.

Check into the 3.6 motor a little more. 2 of my buddy's had major issues with there's (both 2015's with 7-10k miles) something to do with the oiling on the top end. One rebuilt at dealer then replaced 7k miles later with new motor. the other was not warrantied because they found some mud?? so he bought one with 2.5 k and it started having the same issues at 10K. Both are looking into other motor options now. The 3.8 may not have as much power but I don't know of anyone having any issues either.
Just remember one thing what ever you get, If you don't look back at it and smile after you have parked then walked 20 steps away. YOUR driving the WRONG vehicle!

I got a 2010 JKUR. I love it. I mean when I'm not driving the Bronco, the Rubi is fine. If you do any offroading, you will be very impressed with a JK. I have the 66 1/2 cab Bronco, a 1990 Grand Wagoneer, and the 2010 JKUR. I am not getting rid of any of them. The 3.8l engine is a bit mildish, but it does the job. I have a 6spd so sitting in traffic sort of sucks too. Get it and don't look back. You will no regret it at all. When you aren't driving your Bronco, you will still feel good driving the Rubi. Test drive it again, put it in 4low, put it in 1st hear and press as hard as you can on your brakes.... It will keep crawling. Try it.

Ok, so I am considering getting a newer vehicle for commuting into the city! I need something that is easy to park and for me FUN to drive because I am in it for ususally 2.5 hours a day including going and coming to work. Recently came across a 2012 Rubicon with less than 9k on the odometer. I know it isn't the best on gas but its probably the closest thing to an EB out there and pretty capable. Oh yeah, it is a 6 speed which is even better! ;D

What you guys think?

also jeeps rate really low on quality. 3.8 had issues too. most people that I know that love their jeeps have other vehicles in the stable and drive only when they want, me included.

After putting a combined 270K miles on an '85 F-250 and a '95 F-150, both of which I loved, I spent a year driving an '08 F-250 I hated, then another 5 years driving an '02 F-350 that wasn't much better. Now I've got a '97 F-250 that I really like.

I'll second (or third?) the idea that life is too short to spend much of it driving a vehicle you don't like. My wife doesn't really get that (she's content driving just about anything, as long as she doesn't have to think about it). But for car and truck guys, get something you'll be happy in.

I'd still trend to try and get a 2013 or newer, or go back and get a straight 6 one, but even those are pricey if built up:)

I daily drive a 2015 4-door Rubicon. I wish I still had my Ford Fusion for commuting. It was WAY more comfortable and nicer to drive than the Jeep, even though it didn't look very cool. But off-road the JK is very impressive.

Ok, all good thoughts to consider. I will take into consideration for sure and maybe check out some other options as well. Lots of things turn my screws to make me happy in a car and having an open top is only one of them.

Took the JK for a ride and the engine seemed a little bit noisey for a truck with 8k on it. However I know nothing about the Pentastar and what to expect out of it! The hunt continues and worst case scenario, I have a 98 Ranger that cost me next to nothing to purchase that I LOVE for some stupid reason that I use for now. LOL!

Life is short...If you want a JK and this isn't the one, stay on the hunt for one. Upgrade to some steel bumpers so when some as*hat taps the back trying to get out of one of those tight spots, they screw up their car and not yours.

bought a 2015 Unlimited Rubicon a few months ago. Love having it along with the Bronco. It's like a similar ride just more refined...

Bronco is such a great experience as a weekend ride. Jeep is similar, just more realistic for day to day.

Had a 2001 Jeep Wrangler sold to fund bronco, miss it every day. Love my bronco but I drove the jeep year round. I would buy another in a heart beat.

Since you have to deal with white stuff i would seriousy concider a Subrau Forrester.

Outback = Made here in the States
I have one, Love it. Wifey has a Legacy GT , fun car to drive.
The Outback is a bit plain vanilla, but man , when the snow flies, these things are GREAT!

I drive a FJCruiser which I think is the closest to a modern day EB until Ford introduces a new one. Reasonable sized vehicle for urban driving, but the last model was produced in 2014.

I had a couple of 2 door wranglers I bought new. Fun, easy to park and not too bad on gas. I did drive the 2011 4-door and it just didn't feel right to me. Currently we have a Honda Fit and a large F-150. Love the car for a quick 80-90 mile trip and easy parking.

The truck is awesome. But parking and even drivethroughs are tough in the truck. It doesn't help it has 35's with a crew cab.

I agree life is short, drive what you want....but I think practicality weighs in here. For me at least and I have a big commute.
