Ambient temperature sensor location.

Hello all. I have a 72 with dual advance distributor and ALL the vacuum lines and retard/advance control mechanism intact AND working.

But, the drive side door post was replaced before I bought the Bronco and the ambient temperature sensor has been hanging under the dash all the while I've owned it.

Does anyone know the dimensions on the door post so that I drill a hole to place the sensor back in it's home?

Thanks.

Sure someone will chime in first, but if not I’ll take some measurements when I get home from work.

My apologies, I just remembered this now and went out with flashlight and tape. Parked too close to the wall to swing the door open far enough to get the tape in and take measurements. Will try again tomorrow evening to get this for you if someone with a more organized garage doesn’t chime in before then.

I have this pic here on my computer. No measurements, but it may possibly help?

My understanding is it’s part of an early emmision control system. Has to do with sensing temperature to reduce emissions/vacuum advance when the transmission is shifting thru 1st and 2nd gears. Those with more knowledge can probably explain it better.
