I wish I had thought of it before I tore everything apart, but I did not. I need an exact measurement from the front edge of the frame horn to the firewall. When I say firewall, I mean where it is flat where the master cylinder bolts up. I am in the process of mocking up for a 4.6 DOHC Mark VIII engine, and would like to slide it back so I am as close to the floor shift as I can get. Even if I can pick up 1" it would be worth it to me. What can I say...I have short arms!

Thank you therd1 for the pic. I was looking for a Bronco with the front clip off!

Hey greatguy, I can't get to that spot, but from the end of the horn, straight down the frame, to the firewall is 42 1/2". That's inside the inner fender, to the inside of the bracket
for the heater, 2" right of the heater hoses.
Hope that helps.;D

Is that the flat part of the firewall? I just want to get my 4.6 back as far as I can, and I think I might be able to move it back 1" further that the original location. I am going with a TR3650 5 speed, and I want the shifter as far back as I can get it.

Yes sir, that's about 2" left of the tunnel and 2" right of the heater hoses. I can measure the driver side if you want but they look the same.;D

I wish I would have thought of it when my truck sat with no clip for a month (but I didn't!). I am referencing off the front of the frame because that is what I have to work with right now. Unfortunately it is 15 miles away in my buddy's shop. I try to get all my figures together before I do the work so (maybe) I won't waste as much time scratching my head!
Go ahead and measure away. I need to have as accurate of a measurement as possible to figure how far back I can slide the motor mount towers. I know it would be best to have the tub on the frame, but right now they are miles apart (litterally)! Thank you for taking time out to help me on this one!

Nothing in the way with a straight edge on frame horn. 41 inches to firewall at master cylinder mounting spot.

gguy, 7elk is there. your photo shows flat firewall to horn??
Here's pics. Flat to horn 42 1/2". flat to a flat 41" sounds good, it's a 4-6" inch drop. Also pics of horn to front of mount opening and some side shots. Hope this helps.;D ;D
