Hey Ya’ll.
Trying to find some inexpensive steel wheels for my 74.
Has anyone run these? Going with a 2.5” duff kit and probably 33” tires. New to all this, would love some feedback or for someone to point me in a different direction.

Rough Country Steel Wheels

Thanks!

I've had them in 15x10, and currently run a 17x10 version (not rough country, but D Windows still). They're cheap and fairly strong. They get used on a lot of jeeps and yotas and you don't see them on many Broncos anymore.

I guess not as many budget-built Broncos these days.

They get the job done, have good offset numbers and look decent on a Bronco I think.

If you're new to this and are buying wheels and tires, at least consider 17's. There are lots of tire choices in metric sizes around 33" for a 17 inch wheel. I still prefer a 15 inch wheel if running 33's myself, as the sidewall is a little taller. The pic below is a 38 on a 17.

Appreciate the feedback.
Yeah I like the 15 because of the sidewall.
Do you see any issue running a big tire on a 17 with only a 2.5” lift without body lift?

If you’re interested, I have a set of similar wheels with 33x12.50R-15 BFGs suitable for trail/farm use/roller tires on them in NC. . Plenty of tread, but aged. Not sure where you are located?

I’m in Florida, so a bit out of the way for that. Appreciate it though.

Just slightly, lol. A lot of parts I’d be interested in always seem to be at least halfway across the country.

Apologies for the delay. Big tire is pretty subjective. So is "any issue". Tire size and lifts are tough to give a one size fits all answer. An equally sized tire will fit the same whether it is a 15 or 17 inch wheel. If you are comfortable trimming fenders or raising your flairs, 35's and 37's can fit with a small lift. There is at least one user on here that runs about a 38 with very little lift, but his is a highly modified truck, and built to keep his center of gravity low.
I have about 2.5 suspension, 2 body, and flares raised to the body line on the truck that runs 38s.
But I bet you could find a 305/70r17 (34 to 35 x 12) that would fit with your lift nicely. I'd want others to confirm though before you spent your money.
tiresize.com is a great site to see what's out there and compare metric sizes.
Oh, and I'm assuming you have cut fenders, if you have a lubr, that's a whole other conversation! (Lifted, uncut bronco)

I've noticed inexpensive 5x5.5 17" wheels are not too common and the D window leads that little pack. I've found a set of 4 for as little as $350 and am strongly considering them. I'd prefer alloy for the weight savings but double the price to start.

The D window are typically in the correct offset too where alloy's often are not.
Yup. So few choices with good numbers, and lots of the good ones are beadlocks. And in my little town, if I have non-dot beadlocks and get marked, that's a gamble I can't afford to take.
Also, the D Windows (or super 8's with the round holes) are period correct in an odd way.
I blew the budget on rubber, and went cheap on wheels. I'm okay with it. Doesn't have to be forever.

Depending on LUBr LuvR price, it really isn't too bad as I've driven through NC, SC, GA, FL, when out visiting my daughter and grandchildren!
