Anyone still running a Kayline top?- hardware question

I have a Kayline top that is still somehow in pretty good shape. My question is regarding the upright bars that go from the drilled hole in rear of the door jam up to the horizontal bar and attach via wingnut. It seems the flat bar with the velcro that is welded to the round upright bar, should go to the rear so the soft top can wrap around the round bar from the front and grab the velcro on the flat bar which would be on the inboard side.
Mine seems to only fit with the flat bar towards the front of the truck with doesn't allow for the velcro to wrap around the upright and attach to the inboard side.

The measurements for the hole in the top rear door jam seem to be correct, but if I face the flat bar to the rear it does not clear the body. It appears I can trim some of the flat bar off to make it fit, but I want to check first as this thing has obviously worked as is for many years.

Is anyone still running a Kayline that could shoot me a pic of the orientation of their upright bar at the rear of the door? I have attached some pics of my issue for reference.

Thanks as always.

EPB for the win. Thanks much, that did it. I was pretty sure the canvas portion would have to wrap around the round bar portion of the upright (the way I had it), but it does fit correctly as you mention where it actually wraps around the flat bar to the velcro. For some reason, that left to right swap did then cause some interference with the bottom corner of the flat bar and my door, but that was solved with just a little clearance grinding.
Thanks much for the idea and reference, from your neighbor just across the bridge to your north.
