Man I wish I had a shop, with the wife working nights and the parts and peeps we have up here we'd have one bad mother! I just wish I could use my garage to park my Bronco in or work on.
With the locale of people on the board there seems to be clusters. I know here in the Portland area we have more than enough resources.

Having been involved in the Baghdad Bronco project..and seeing the e huge effort that was put in by a few key individuals (I was not one of those individuals..all I did was build and ship the engine to those doing the heavy lifting) I offer one comment and one idea..that are related.

Yes, I agree 100% with those, including Jon, who have noted that project management by one or only a few is paramount. But thos few often end up donig most of the work too. which leads me to...

In this case..since what is being proposed seems to be running along the lines of more a good-publicity and charity project combined (which I like), I think that compensation (or call it reimbursement if you will) of key individuals for key efforts would be in order and would tend to motivate as well. Said compensation would come 'off the top' when the vehicle auctioned/sold and proceeds are in hand for distribution to charities. I'm not proposeing that HAS to be done..but it may be a good idea to consider it up front.

I am not proposing to be one of those that might be compensated either, mind you, - my plate is full with my business to run - but I'm on board for supporting this project if it matures under the right circumstances and withteh right goals. It would - or at lest could if managed properly - make the EB commuity look real good...much as the Baghdad Bronco project did.

Agreed, logistics will be the largest hurdle.

Jon,
When I posted this I had earmarked PNW or CA since It appears to me that we have a larger community in those areas. Do you know where active users are most densly populated?

If we could get a location determined and a project leader we'd be on the fast track (although I realize those are two MAJOR hurdles). We could then have team members who would have roles to try and drum up publicity/parts/etc, you wouldnt have to be living in the same area to promote the project.

I liked the idea of an East Coast vs West Coast build too - that sounds awesome!

I love the idea, but will definitely have to be done by a group not an individual. The Baghdad Bronco nearly killed me at times. A lot of things should have been done differently. Donated parts are great, but you never get what you need when you need it. Of all the things discussed so far the most important is still missing. Someone that can step up and take charge/responsibility for building it. Not trying to put a dampner on the idea, just some friendly warnings. I'll keep watching this thread and will be happy to donate if this comes to fruition.
