I'm using the k3600 cam (kit with the lifters). It has a nice burble at idle.
I have a mostly stock smog era '76 engine. I believe I have all of my 120hp that the engine came stock with, pushing through an anemic C4 automatic with 3.50 gears.
Power curve is relatively flat off the line until 3k rpm, then there's a slight additional push of acceleration until 4k.
If I were to do it again, I'd probably buy the Edelbrock version for some peace of mind as I'm not sure I fully trust the Summit branded version's quality. It may be the same lifter/camshaft as the performer, but no way to tell. I was annoyed it shipped loose in the box, and some of the melonizing had worn away - no big deal, but gives you pause.
I have a recently rebuilt engine. I've noticed a sliver or two of silver metal shavings attached to my oil drain plug magnet, no fine particles or smudging. While probably not a problem, the likely place that they'd come from would be camshaft and lifters. I'll be pulling my intake off to double check in the near future.
Does anyone have experience, good or bad, with the Summit Racing SUM-K3600 hydraulic flat tappet cam in a Bronco 302?
The k3600 grind appears to be identical to the Edelbrock Performer plus camshaft, at half the price.
It will go in a 68 Bronco with a 302, AX15 5 speed, 4.11 gears and power brakes.
