Classic Instruments produces very good quality gauges. I started with a blank dash and used the Autocross style but I'm sure the quality is good on their retrofit gauges also.

Why did they put an 8,000 RPM tach in it?

It would seem that a 6,000 RPM would be enough and easier to read.

The tach shows x1000 yet the gauge reads in tens, i.e...10, 20, 30, 40, etc...
So it is saying 10,000, 20,000, 30,000 etc, rpm...
Am I missing something here, doesn't seem like they would make that mistake...?

What does this gauge cluster do that much better than the stock gauge cluster that makes it worth $1k??

Looks really nice but I would think the small tach would be really hard to see going down the road

Me too, and I second this, he is very reasonable and a craftsman, you get a cluster that was better than what rolled off the assembly line. He provides some upgraded components in his rebuilds that improve the cluster. I remember talking to him about it when he did mine, but I don't remember the details of what all he upgrades now.

"mistake" or just someone's weird idea of style?

The single digit style looks nice, and easy enough to read if you are just cruising around.

Mistake.

It is indicating 10,000 rpm, 20,000 rpm, 30,000 rpm, etc...

That is not style, that is a 3rd grade math mistake.
Inexcusable in a final product.
