Anything I should do?

Just picked this 289 up from a friend it had a full rebuild at a reputable machine shop. Was thinking of doing the explorer serpentine conversion, shorty headers from toms, and a bronco specific oil pan. It’s got an edelbrock intake manifold already as well as a mild cam. I am going to run a Holley sniper on the top as well with their sniper distributor. Is there anything else I should really do to it?

make sure you have the proper oil pressure sending unit and its extension is made of steel. personally I prefer the 289 over the 302.

I will check into that. Thank you!

Why do you prefer the 289 over the 302?
