IT NEVER F***ING FAILS!!!AAaaarrgghhhh!!!! On the way to 4wheel, and test three new vehicles/modifications in our club. Half way to the trail, the engine starts to vibrate. Pulled over, in idle engine wants to shake itself apart. After a few choice thoughts, I found the harmonic balancer had failed. O.K., I managed to limp home, found out that approx. 2200 rpms did not cause as much vibration in the motor. Oh, did I mention the the failed ring rubbed a hole in the timing cover as well!?!? What a nice day..:-X :-X

Anyway, the question at hand, are the harmonic balancers the same for a 302 and 351W?? I know of a lot of 302's, but not hat many 351W's. HELP!!!!!!! I am going to the bone yard to morrow for a temp. fix, and probably end up buying a new one later.

I have used this guy in the past. The price is right and the service is good also.

I have one of his on my 302 that I rebuilt last fall. I still have the old one and it would get you by untill you can get one. I have a 351W that I am going to build and I will be using his product for it.

Let me know if you need the help. You will have a tough time finding the 3 bolt at the bone yard.

I have the 4 bolt one, swapped it out when I rebuilt the motor years ago.
mtn_bronco, if I would have had my cell with me, it would not have worked anyway, I was taking Hwy 9. I had to limp back to Canon City to get to a phone to call the guys you met up there.
Talked with some of the group that went, had a great time, per usual.......:p

So I am assuming they are the same for a 302 and a 351W?

I might have a 28oz 3 bolt stock EB 302 balancer you could have. It will work on the 351W. I'll have to check my parts pile after work today to see if I still have it. After a while all the used parts start to blend together :)

Well here is the scoop from Ford. The 1970-80 302 and the 1970-96 351W use the same damper. As luck would have it, I had already changed mine to the 4 bolt, so, no problem finding one in the bone yard. Thanks for all of the offers of parts and support!!

This Board ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!;D ;D
