Geico refered me to American Modern Auto. They were great at first, set me up at 25k stated coverage (broncos prob worth 10-12 but 25 to me). Sent them tons of pics. Told them I only off roaded it a couple times/yr. I wanetd "stated value insurance" turns out this this was "agreed value". 4 months later I get a letter that says I need to send them back a signed letter requesting to drop my Bronco. I called and they said it is because it was modified for offroad.

Anyone in CA have a good experience with an insurance company or have any ideas for me? Really what I want is no BS stated value insurance at 20-25k.

If you want coverage for specified items you can give Lloyds of London a call, they will insure anything. You can also try Haggerty's but I hear they want limited mileage etc. I use our local Farm Bureau but have yet to get my EB on the road but they tell me they will cover me for what value I want as long as comps are provided and I can go for antique coverage which is minimal use or regular DD coverage. Heck, for that matter try State Farm, they are blowing up the TV with adds all the time...

Hagerty, no mileage restriction, has to be garaged, $25k stated value, $300ish a year, or was it 6 mo... bah... I forgot. Obviously, anything happens to my rig off road, they won't cover it.

Hagerty seem pretty reasonable to me then. But I am years away from needing the insurance though it is covered for 15K as it sits in my barn but thats only if the barn burns downer implodes...

I had a great quote from Hagerty and right before the policy was issued they said they couldn't insure it because it was not stored in a fully enclosed lockable garage. Mine is stored in a covered car port. Instead I went with Allstate and got a good deal. I have other vehicles, a boat, and home coverage with them so they offered the bundle discount. I got a policy that allows me to put it on hold for times that I won't be driving it. It works pretty well for the winter months or times when you are doing any major upgrades and will have it apart for a while. Important thing is to get an agent you can trust and bounce different policy options off of.

American Modern did the exact same thing to me. Mine was because of my winch they said. I'm also interested in what you guys are running for insurance.

I am ok with garage kept, limited mileage and some off-road (not covered off-road of course). Guess I need to talk to a few carriers. Going to have a few months while I put the ZF/205 combo in it. Let's keep this thread going. Great ideas, thanks!

I have Hagerty for the street Bronco but they would not cover the one for offroading. I'm not sure any insurance company will cover one used for offroading.

Had good luck with Grundy. Didn't put on a mileage restriction. Asked about where it was stored, but didn't say it was a requirement. I keep it in a garage anyway so not sure if that makes a difference on whether or not they cover it or difference in price, etc. Mine was stated value of either 10 or 12,000 for $140.00 per year. Thought it was very reasonable, but mine went into "surgery" so I've let coverage lapse thus year. HTH.

I'd recommend going to an insurance broker. Tell them exactly what you want and they will cut through the b/s and find it for you.

Locked Garage was stated by everyone I got a quote from so I keep mine at a nearby storage facility. My savings in insurance is almost half the cost of my storage.

I have a carport behind a locked fence and all said no go. Stated value with State Farm. They didn't care about the off-road stuff (winch/tires/lift) but did want to know that I had a newer engine. Even wanted to know what it came from so I told them a '97 Explorer.

Wow $300 a year! I am paying way more than that and I think the value is only $5K on both of mine. Looks like I got to make a change!

Agreed value 11k State Farm classic. No garage restriction. Less than 500 miles annually for 160$. Multi car and house discount.
Inure your non running project as homeowners will not cover loss if burns in garage..

Hagerty on mine for stated vaue of 25k. It was originally garaged until I moved to a house without one. Hagerty then asked for pics of it in garage, so I purchased a three sided 10x20 carport sent in a pic of it inside and I haven't heard from them since. They even reissued the policy at around 400 a year.

I used to have Hagerty for about 290 a year and when they wanted to raise it to over 400 I switched to American Collector. I am paying 185 now but yeah, same mileage and garage restrictions. Not sure if their questionaire asked about off-road or not.

State Farm is the way to go. I may be a little biased since I have worked for them for over 20 years. Like somebody said above, always be upfront with what you have to make sure there are no surprises if claim time comes.
