My tank is the same way . I have a 68 Bronco. The early tanks are not vented. You have to fill it slowly.

maybe someone stuffed a tennis ball into the neck ?. Hole in tank or filler to prevent fuel spill ? Or maybe just a jealous non Bronco owner .

Mine did the same thing. The previous owner had plumbed the return fuel line for the EFI through the vent. So it couldn't vent while filling. It took 15 minutes to get 3 gallons in the tank.

I fixed it when I replaced all the fuel lines and vents properly. Now the vent goes from the tank to just inside the fuel cap.

The vent tube is connected to the tank on one end and the
Other end inside the fuel cap, I will fill up the neck and stop
After several hours it will go n tank
