I have searched and have not found much information on replacing the B pillar. Does anyone have and advice on doing it or pictures. I saw a video where someone cut the rust out and cut the section he need from a new pillar and grafted it back in. The integrity top and bottom is good but all around the striker post is weak and rust. I know replacing the whole post is the way to go but I’m not sure what all attaches to.

I think I would do the same thing. Cut out the bad and weld in a new patch from another post. If most of yours are good that seems like the easiest approach. Just my 2 cents, good luck with your project.

It looks like all the outer edges are still sound. So I hate to tear it out. Thanks It’s going to be my fall project

Any time you can graft in a piece rather than replacing the whole piece is a good thing. The rear pillar has a lot of welds around it and would be a lot easier to section it in. Good luck. Oh and it was nice to meet you and your son at SC this year. Ken

Thanks for weighing in Ken. Good to meet you too! Winning those seats have taken me down a road where I’m currently repairing some floor spots and preparing to spray a Raptor liner. It motivation to get me working on the body. I think I’m going to try to paint it this fall.

Since I am now struggling with A and B post alignment, I highly recommend patching if at all possible.

Good luck with the body and paint, your truck is definitely worth it. You were awfully lucky with your winnings this year.

I vote for grafting a new piece(s) in... its welded to a lot of places along with braces and filler panels as mentioned above...I built my tub so it wasn't quite as bad getting things together but replacing it once its in there would not be fun

Would grafting the lower sections of the A and B pillars be a good approach for trying to reverse a box tube rocker installation? The original rockers appear to have been cut out completely, along with the lower portions of the front and rear fender edges, and replaced with 4x4 box tubing that is welded to the lower door sill and then also back to the frame with some round tube outriggers. Obviously this is a problem because there is no way for the body and frame to flex independently... I'd like to try and return it to a stock rocker, but don't really want to go through replacing the entire pillar(s)...

@bronkenn @rydog1130 I wanted to get some suggestions/advice on repairing my B pillar. Would you recommend cutting the rust area out in some manner and welding in a new section? See pictures below.

I replaced both sides as the original pillars were both beyond repair. Take your time to locate and cut out the factory welds. Be sure to brace the tub to keep the rear quarters aligned.

I did the same - cut off the rusted lower half and pieces in the section need to make it whole again. Easier all around IMO.

Visually it doesn't look too bad. You can cut open that area and take a look, If the rust is just in that spot patching it is probably your best option. You have to be sure that you are removing all of the rust or it can pop back up.
