Well...I going in for my second back surgery and hopefully this one works. I am determined to get off-road again. What is the best seat for back support and absorbing the bumps. Cost isn't an issue since the passenger seat will be a POS!
It depends on what you're doing...I run a Mastercraft suspension seat for the comfort and support, and it's great. That said, when I was researching seats, there have been a lot of back injuries in off-road racing in the past due to crashes, g-outs, etc, so there are probably safer options if you intend to desert race, prerun, dune or do other high speed stuff. Here's a link to a thread I had saved from 2005: http://www.race-dezert.com/forum/th...ack-at-the-parker-425-suspension-seats.58050/
It's your back, so good luck and let us know what you choose to do and how it works out for you.
The problem with suspension seats is that they're usually installed wrong. To make them work for you they need to be reclined so that your back is not stacked vertically. Install a seat that way and every bump compresses your spine. Recline them so that your whole back is load-bearing against the seat. The other common failure mode is to install them with not enough clearance under them. Bottoming out the seat with your butt is extremely not good for your back.
Installed correctly they won't be easy to get in and out of.
What you use can definitely depend on what kind of back problems you have. You may need a device that you wear, lumbar support is a must in any seat that you use, etc etc
