Man that was a nice looking '78 FJ 40 went through last night for 33k I believe. Did anyone see it up close?

I will have to look now for sure. I am DVRing the auction. I like looking at how people have restored the old 40's.

The black 71 got up to $25k, went back to $20k for some reason and then 'crept up to $25k again and sold. The photos online are old. The guy had a bunch of pinstriping done including a cursive El Jefe on the rear quarter with a chili pepper. Yikes

I have seen two others (besides mine) in my area. And only ran across them once and I wasn't in mine, was driving and just got a glance. I know mine gets lots of waves and thumbs up. Many a time I have come out of a store and someone is taking pictures. One kid was walking around and around it and when I walked up he said "What is this? I love it". He looked to be 18 years old. It took me a year to find the one I settled on to buy. Looked at lots that were pretty rough and not original. I wanted one that was stock.
It is noisy, bouncy and slow, but I love it. I have to say that it is a toss up though regarding the Bronco and the 40. Both have their charm. My Bronco is going to get me a ticket I fear. No worry ever driving the 40. 0 - 60 some day. Was in the Bronco heading down Rt360 (four lane with wide median) a few weeks ago. Was overtaking a BMW something other and met a state trooper. He threw on his lights and pointed at me. I slowed. He didn't turn around, so just a warning. Whew. If I had been in the 40 he'd have pulled me over for holding up traffic.

Called it right on the dot, $19k for the yellow one. First thing he says is, "All Original!" ha. It hung up at $7k for a while and I think it got the attention of a few people. Climbed slowly to $19k and they all quit. All the owner had to do was remove a couple items and buy a roll of tape to mask the engine bay and that would have gotten him another $5k no problem.

Sad year for Broncos. Last one goes up fairly early tomorrow. My guess is $32k but could be more since its the last and only good one there

Don't mean to jack FRANKO's thread but saw this one while back at the Buster Miles all ford show in Alabama sitting in the parking lot.

That FJ40 was not correct for the year stated. The top was from a very early 70's. A 1978 would have ambulance doors. And side vent windows. Breather was wrong. Wrong tire rack. Not sure the 6 cylinder is the correct model.

Hey Half Cab! I may have already mentioned the specifics on that Cruiser, (I can't remember) but it belongs to my neighbor. I think it is a '83 and it is original except for the tires and wheels...less than 50k miles. I think it had less than 15k on it when he bought it, but he's had it for a long while!

Description

Lot #655 - This exceptional Bronco has been restored from the ground up. It features a fresh, healthy 351ci motor with a C4 automatic, aftermarket bumpers and an 8,000-pound winch, James Duff 4" lift, great interior, custom seat, rocking sound system and Atlas transfer case. This Bronco is as clean underneath as it is on top.

My mom and step-father are at the Barrett Jackson auction. This one sold for $29,000.

The '75 half cab must've gone away on the transporter already as it wasn't around today. The yellow '73 was a mess. The black one was a little better.

Ya I was there Friday and the half cab was gone. The yellow 73 was bad. Cracked dash, and rusty leafs/exhaust. Should have been a $12k Bronco.

Someone removed El Jefe and the chili pepper from the black one too haha
