Battery in cowl

Thinking of relocating my battery to the pass side cowl but I'm not super interested in losing my heat for it. Does the heater box fit all the way to the top of the dash or is there room to fit one kinda half in and half out of the cowl?

I have a narrowed front with a tube core support, I'm just making some changes and thinking about moving stuff around a bit.

How about putting it under the passenger side seat instead?

They use to punch the top of the wheel well and hang it therebut i doubt you have wheel well liners. Another place was down by the frame behind the passenger front tire where the old smog bomb was.

Mine is in a boat box in the right rear corner. Held down by a slip type strap. Using a bulkhead connection for the hot cable. The ground is bolted solid to the body. Look up my thread on air conditioning and you might be able to see that there's not enough room to sink the battery into the cowl without having to remove the heater. On that note, they make underdash heaters cheap that might do a better job than the factory heater box.

No room there - I flattened out the floor for my suspension seat and my exhaust is right under it.

I'm either going to move my battery higher in it's current mount or move it to the back - I've already for 0GA wire run back there as I thought I was going to put dual batteries back there for onboard air and a welder.

I'm going to be mounting my nitrogen charged bump stops basically on the frame in front of the coil buckets and the battery is in the way. It sits real low in that box I made, I think I can get away with just raising it, as long as I can get the battery in and out of the box that is...

Thanks guys, I really like the look of the battery in the cowl but I'm not ready to ditch my heat yet... and I don't even have doors or a top ;D

I do not have any pictures handy but I turned mine sideways in the stock location. I had to modify the wheel well a bit to get it in there. Half the battery is under the fender now and I have more room in the area for cold air to get to the EFI intake now.

Stretch the frame/body 12-16 inches and then you'll have a bunch of new real estate to develop, cuz you're running out of space on that thing.

I planned to mount mine in the cowl but didn't have the room without removing the heater box. I ended up making a mount off the front of my engine cage

put in a flexalite or equal heater, will put out as much or more heat than factory and 1/4 of the real estate. about to put one in mine because its not much different in price from a good factory type heater core the aftermarket aluminum ones suck

Wanna trade cowls? I'd love to have a stock cowl back. Clears the heater, but no HVAC system is going to fit.

Yeah - your battery is mounted up at by the top of the radiator, I'm thinking that is going to be my solution.
