Looking at the rear mount for the BC Broncos fuel tank and when I slide the bracket up to the frame it is fairly close to an existing slotted hole in the bottom of the frame rail. The tank bracket is not centered on this slotted hole, you can see about 1/4" of the slotted hole sticking out behind the tank bracket. If the slotted hole in the frame was about 1" foward, it would probably be perfectly located.

Has anyone used this existing hole to mount the tank vs. drilling a new hole?

To use this existing slotted hole in the frame of my 69, the mounting bolt cannot be centered in the tank mounting bracket....it will have to be shifted to the rear of the bracket. Is that common when using the existing slotted hole in the frame?

are you talking about the mounting brackets that are on the sides of the tank? those holes where showing on the front of the bracket a bit to i made new holes a little toward the back part of the bracket and was planning on filling the old holes in when i strip down to bare frame later.

Yes, the side mounting brackets near the rear of the tank. The instructions with the tank say to drill a new hole thru the bracket and the Bronco frame, but the existing slotted holes are very close to working....they are just offset back a bit further than center of the mounting bracket.

Use the slots if you can, if not drill new holes. Either is not a big deal. Some times the fac. hole is right in the center sometimes it is too far back to use so we say Drill a new hole but I don't mind if you use that stock hole.
