My Terra Hood's reinforcements are shorter than the brace that BC Broncos sends with their fiberglass hood shock kit. The brace won't sit flat against the hood b/c some of the hood has reinforcements in it and other sections do not

Has anyone come up with a solution for this?

Either make the reinforcement on the braces shorter or add to reinforcements on the hood.
A pic might help for more info.

Here's a pic. You can see where the raises portion of the hood ends. The brace would be hanging over this section by 6-10

I dont know if these pics would help you any but they are of Duffs hood shocks. They work for metal and fiberglass hoods:

Let me know if you need any other angles.

Yu can cut the extra off or put them backwards on the other side and move the bottom mount back one hole. Either way works

Thanks Chuck. Mounting them backwards looks like it will work. If I do this I move the bottom mount towards the firewall correct? Should I swap the bottom bracket so it faces the opposite direction as well?

Hey Chuck, I got your fiberglass hood shock kit last year. I had a house fire and the epoxy burned up. What type of epoxy would you recommend that I could buy locally(AK)? Like from Home depot or Lowes?
Thanks,
Andre

Surface prep is more important than the epoxy; I had to re-epoxy mine since I didn't prep it well the 1st time. I just found an epoxy that worked on both fiberglass and metal, and had like a 30 min cure. Use sandpaper to rough the surfaces up some.

All that and wipe with alcohol

Success!

Just wanted to update this thread - I took Chuck's advice and moved the mount one bolt back (towards the firewall, swapping the driver's and passenger side mounts), and then flipped the hood bracket in the other direction. I also trimmed off about 12" on both to line them up with the suppors built into my hood. I then mixed up the epoxy, scuffed up both the hood and the brackets with some coarse sandpaper, cleaned with alcohol and used three very small screws to secure each bracket to the hood. I let it cure for 36hrs and tested it this morning - viola!

Thanks for the personal help Chuck! ;D
