Anyone have any expereince with these?

Also how about the degreed bushings for your radius arms?

Best (flex offroad) 2 1/2" front coils ( I do have a winch but not worried about road manners) ?

F250 Shock mounts?

I know there is alot of info on all these subjects but would appreciate the Bronco "Guru's" thoughts on all these for cheap flex...

Thank you in adavance for your time. JP

I keep away from spring rockers. They flex good but can be a little unpredictable. IMHO

I think they are very predictable, they do exactly the same thing everytime you do whatever you do the same way. They add body roll and articulation. I do not recommend using them on the street. I ran them for years on road and off but it took some learning to know what to expect. My first left turn after driving 100 miles of freeway I thought the EB would turn over, it wasn't really close but it was a suprise. I took them off a while back, eariler this year, when I went to my new 9 leaf pack springs.

Been running the rockers for years and love the flex. If you want flex, some body roll comes with it no matter how you build it. You get use to the feel of driving with them and now don't even notice them.
Also running the F250 shock mounts and they are a good cheap alternative to a hoop, but many will tell you, you have to double shock EBs up front for good road manners. You decide what you're building the EB for mostly.

Get the 7.5 degree bushings if lifting much, but that won't free up suspension to flex. Longer radius arms, wristed radius arm or the wristed axle housing are a must to free up EB frontends. More lift with stock radius arms won't help a lot because the radius arm/coil design just doesn't flex well until modified. Installing longer radius arms is probably your best bang for the buck and not as hard to move the frame mounts as first appears.

Good luck with the build.

If you want to loosen up the front, try the wristed axle housing kit. That will do more then springs will.

With a WAH you find out what else would be limiting articulation if the axle housing wasn't, things like coil length, radius arm bushings, track bar bind, drag link to pitman arm bind, brake lines too short and driveshaft bind. The WAH opens up a whole new world of possibilities

I installed one of the very sets of spring rockers Chuck sold. At first, I felt I needed to do something about the "sway", so I drilled a hole through the top and bottom and added a spacer so I could bolt them down while driving on the street.

I used this setup for a while, then forgot to bolt them back down while driving home. I did feel a difference on the corners, but it wasn't bad at all. Like everything else on a 40 year old truck, as long as you're anticipating and paying attention, no big deal.

I am really wanting to do this "cheap" because in the very near future I am swapping in a D60 front and already have a 10.25 waiting to go in the rear ... just one or to more wheelin trips before the big change... And I have yet to work on my suspension ... rest of the truck for almost two years and about 3-4 hard wheelin trips under my belt but a little more flex in the front and I feel like the truck would do alot better ... Also I do like driving it on the street but I am in no way concerned with road manners.

Thanks again

JP

I took them off a while back, eariler this year...

Well, I poached Chuck's old set and installed them yesterday before the MEB Hooters M&G. (Thanks!) They're pretty stout units. They took me about an hour to install with one minor SNAFU.

For the record, I'm running a 3.5" SL with a 1" BL and 35s. Prior to installing the spring rockers I was running a 1.5" block under my leaf springs because my truck was squatting and I hate that look. With the block she was sitting level and now with the spring rockers she's sitting a little high in the back but not excessively. She's got a good aggressive look to her. (Would probably go great with 4.5" coils up front to match but I'm not trying to go any higher.)

Today I drove approximately 3 hours on a 114 mile round trip from Fredericksburg to Crozet, VA. The speed limits varied from 25 to 55 and I was moving down I-64 at a pretty good clip. I must report that I didn't feel any adverse affects whatsoever. I didn't experience any excessive body roll or unwarranted leans and I'll tell you, I was trying. I wanted to see what all the hoopla was about, but nothing! I'll continue to drive cautiously for a while, but my first outing was uneventful.

Off-road, it's hard to tell. I only hit a few bunny trails (and almost rolled due to FREAKING ICE ON A STINKING INCLINE! %) ) so I don't believe I was anywhere near reaching full articulation. I did, however, receive some favorable comments from those who noticed.

Stay tuned... ;)
