I do a disc conversion on the front. You can do it for A few hundred doing either the Chevy conversion or the 73-79 F150 4x4 or 78-79 bronco, Knuckels out conversion.

Hydroboost brakes. If you had another $100 then I would say disk brakes for the front. If you had $200 more then I would suggest putting it into a roll cage. (If you can do your own fab work then you may be able to get a basic cage made with $200 but it's gonna cost $400 and up for anything where someone else does it) At any rate make safety the first goal. Then you can look at the other stuff afterwards.

I would go with 9 inch TV's in the seat headrests and embroidered "ca1a73" on the floormats. Ok, just kidding.

My vote is for front discs too. Looks like you expected that with the capitalized DRUM BRAKES in your thread.

3 point seat belts and the hood shocks. Save up for a disc brake conversion.

disc brakes are a must, however, save your money a little bit and do the chevy conversion from the knuckle out... this will allow you to get the flat top knuckles for the high steer conversion.....that is the absolute best bang for the buck,, no more white knuckle driving and a tight steering wheel to boot,,, oh did I forget you get disc brakes too....lol

If you find an a 80-85 Dodge D44 or the Chevy D44 you may be able to pick one up for about $150 at the salvage,,, but then you will need new calipers $30, and new pads $15, and take the rubber brake lines with you......BTW, the axles for the dodge are setup with the big 297 u-joints and the short side fits the bronco short side, you are then able to have the long side cut to original long Bronco length and both the axles are that much stronger,,, cost about $85 from WMS to respline.... Also, the Dodge uses the bigger spindles also, with the bigger bearing setup..... (you can also use the chevy axles the same way, but some are set with the 297 u-joints, and some are not. They also do not have the bigger spindles and bearings)

great info! can you just put the dodge spindles on our dana 44's with their rotors? they used 5-5.5 lug patterns too, i wonder if it's a easier way.

73Stallion, no unfortunatley they have a different spindle bolt pattern if I remember correctly, plus you really want the flat top knuckles for the high steer conversion,,, some of the yards that have these D44s from the dodge trucks and ramchargers sell them cheap, because not too many people look for the dodge parts, however, some of the guys know what they have and ask too much for them....BTW, that was a good point, yes the rotors and hub have the 5 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern just like the Bronco.....This is where the year of the dodge comes in,,, most of the dodge trucks before 80 were a 5 on 5 bolt pattern, however, I have found some as old as 76' with the 5 on 5 1/2,,,, it seems like it was a mixed batch thing, kind of like the chevy D44/ 10 bolt what ever was cheaper they put in........
