Best Seat Foam

Ready to order seat foam. I see that a number of vendors have it. Is there a "Best" seat foam? I'm not worried about a few bucks difference in price, just want what will look the best when done. (Short of taking it up the road to the upholstery shop. I'm sure they do good work but not in my budget!) I ordered the head rest brackets off of ebay and will be installing them at the same time. I was pretty excited to see that my seat frames had similar holes in the upper supports as the '69 mustang backs for bolting in the headrests.
Thanks.

Seat Foam

I prefer the TMI product sold by Laurel Mountain (Mustang Vendor)
'68-69 Mustang Bucket Seat Foam.
For my $ I believe it is better than some others.
It fills the covers better (more full) and gives better support (more density)

I got seat foam from Mustang Market in VA and decided NOT to use it. I didn't care for their product. Similar pricing. I still have it if you are interested, but I am not recommending it. New still in the box.

Good luck with your decision.

When I built my rear seat I went to the upholstery fabric shop and bought their thickest seat foam. Trim to fit and put side bolsters where u want em. I also boughbt the cover material there and stretched it tight over the foam.

Agree that TMI makes very good seat foam. My new seats feel like riding in a Cadillac! (Maybe I should say Lincoln.)

See this link.

x3 on Laurel Mountain.
When I got my '66 seats redone the foam was pure comfort.

Thanks all for the feedback. At this point the Pony covers are out for me!
Mustangs2,
Did you use standard replacement covers or something different? I have the Madeoneforyou covers off of ebay. Laurel Mountain says the sport foam definitely won't fit but thinking the standard with bolster might be the trick.

CJ Pony Parts and TMI have put out some good videos on upholstery installation. They helped a lot when I did mine. If you have stock cut upholstery you will need the stock style foam. Make sure whatever foam you get has the listing wires installed.

Laurel mountain mustang is where I bought my first set years ago. It's firmer than some others. The shop that installed mine, said it was the best he's seen. And he has done a bunch of bronco seats.

Standard replacement with Listing wires is the way to go.

My '75 has covers from Tom @ Madeone4you. His stuff is solid.

I watched the CJ Pony video a few times. It is a good resources...as many have already said.

Take some pics after your done and post 'em up.

All the best!

Jeff

I think you want the stock 68 mustang seat foam. I doubt the ones pictured will fit properly unless you get the vinyl custom made. Also do not forget to save the small piece of foam on the back top of the stock seat - the repro foam does not have this small piece.

You are correct Hyghlndr. I emailed them asking about the Sport foam and their reply is that the SPORT won't fit in the standard Bronco seat cover. I believe this http://www.laurelmountainmustang.com/products/68-69-mustang-low-back-seat-foam-tmi is what I ordered but can't get out to check the part number. Good stuff.

I'm sticking with this one.........http://www.laurelmountainmustang.com/products/68-69-mustang-low-back-seat-foam-tmi

Part #43-70708
1968 1969 Mustang Seat Foam, Low Back,TMI Products w/bolster

1968 1969 Mustang seat foam, low back bucket seat foam by TMI PRODUCTS

this mustang seat foam is top quality and includes listing wires for ease of upholstery installation, a quality replacement foam by TMI Products.

fits 1968 68 1969 69 Ford Mustang coupe fastback and convertible

I'm sure that this is what I installed LAST WEEK FINALLY! in mine. Worked great. Get extra Hog rings. The bottom foam was a PITA to hook the seat listing wires all the way to the spring/frame listing wires. Finally got it. Unfortunately I am a long ways from my project to verify the part number on the box. Best just to give them a call on Monday.

Melissa at Bronco Hut was great to work with. Great seat covers and high quality 3pc foam.
