I found this out a few years ago when I primed and block sanded my '64-1/2 Mustang five times before painting it. Came out beautifully though. Well worth the effort and monotony.

It got much more complex after I cut and flared the rear fenders to match the front ones.
This reminds me of applying paint stripper to the belly of an airplane.. a horrible, horrible task..

I hear ya. I've been patching holes and sanding away bondo for a couple of weeks now. My garage is a mess, my skin is all dry and I'm still not close to done. I've had mine since 1995, it was in primer then and I haven't put auto paint on it since I've owned it. I'm about to change that.

well look at the upside it is not that much surface area and a lot of it is flat. keep blocking you will be glad you did. it also might keep you out of the political section and give the libs a break ;D

I should be at that point by winter. I did my fairlane last winter, came out sweet! worth the insanity! (see gallery)

I have to do the rollcage and bedliner first then it's sandpaper and dust time!

You spraying it yourself? I want to do mine just need to find a spot to do it here in LA LA Land. I need a place in the country to do this stuff! Condos suck!

Okay, I finally caved in about 5 weeks ago and found a guy to finish my paint. I just got tired of blocking, blocking, blocking. My elbows and wrists hurt and I was just freaking sick of it, (or did I say that already?).
So I found a guy with a lot of talent but low on work who agreed to take my bronco and finish what I started. I gave it to him 4 or 5 weeks ago, and today he sent me these photos:
Going to go pick it up tomorrow. Still plan to paint on the lower stripe but we are going to wait till the topper is on and doors are final fit with seals. Then paint the stripes.
I think the welded and hand formed steel rear flares turned out good. Those flares gave me some more gray hairs.
