You are going to be making considerably more hp than stock. That means more BTU's to cool off.

If you have the time....

Do yourself a favor and go with the Explorer Serp swap.

There is an incredible write-up on this swap. It includes tips and part numbers. It is great!

You get a better ps pump, alternator, water pump, and a/c compressor. Best of all you get the best mechanical fan available for an eb. This system will provide a ton more room between the rad and fan.
Real happy with my set up.

Sandmann here on CB sells this as a kit.
Look him up.

Also did you order the bp306 with the explorer timing chain cover?

I just received my BP306’s last week and will be doing the explorer serpentine setup. BP offers it with a reverse rotation timing cover, but it’s not the explorer cover.

I bought a 97 Mountaineer and am in the process of pulling the motor and trans now. I also needed the 4r70w and it was cheaper to buy the whole truck.

That is what I understood as well, they did not offer an explorer cover.

I was reading the Summit web site and saw this comment :Everything was as advertised. Only thing was the cylinder head accessory mounting bolts ware tapped to 10 mm instead of 3/8 . For the older applications will need to change over to metrics.

Has anyone had this experience? This would mean the serpentine bolts would need to go to metrci

If you pull the serpentine setup off an explorer the bolts are metric

Its actually a mixed bag. some bolts are metric and some U.S.
Any bolts that attach to the block or heads are US. So, bracket bolts, timing cover bolts are 5/16 & 7/16...
The bolts that attach the pullies, tensioner, power steering pump and reservoir are all metric...

I'm finishing up another set up if anybody is interested... :)

Thanks for clarifying! I haven’t finished pulling it all yet and everything I’ve run into so far has been metric so I assumed....

They have a few 306 choices, which heads are you talking about?

Most of the way done with a serpentine swap on a BP 306 bronco edition. I'm gonna be using saginaw pump though so haven't bolted that on yet. The bolts I got with the serpentine setup from sandman fit right into the holes tapped in the heads. I've got it running a proflo 4 and a 4r70w.

On my 306 it came with a Balancer as pictured. What pulley should I use with this or will I need to change the balancer out?
