Had the body on and off several times to get gaps and fit right with all the new sheet metal. Drivetrain now complete. Body goes on tomorrow and all body parts get installed and aligned (shimming body mounts, door hinges, hood, etc.) then all body parts back off (once body mounts confirmed and final) and everything gets painted separately.

Body back on. Everything went well. Put on Passenger door and gaps are great with a couple shims on top hinge and about 1/8” spacer at rear passenger body mount.

I spent probably 10 days during body work phase just on door gaps. Got them as close as possible with various hinge and body shims then filed down door edges where required, rewelded edges, then used a gap feeler gauge to file the gaps down to 3/16”. Since then I have switched to the SS hinges so was hoping doors would still be right. So far, passenger door is spot on. Tomorrow the drivers door, fenders, grill, hood.

Gaps look really good. I spent a lot of time getting my gaps good and then the door seals had their way with them.

Today got the drivers door hung, both fenders, grill, and hood. Hood is always tedious to get right. All of the time spent aligning, cutting out spot welds from after-market fenders, tweaking new grill, and on and on, seemed to pay off for this final assembly check before paint. Tomorrow the tailgate, windshield frame, and top. Once that's all checked, final block, wet sand to 600, disassemble everything, mask it up and paint.

Only had a few hours in the shop today. I installed the tailgate. I made shims for each sides ball hinges that tighten up the tailgate so it has no left to right movement. I also made the shims per side to move the tailgate exactly into the center of the opening. It opens nice and smooth, is centered with the right gaps, and has no left to right movement.
