I am thinking of building my own 2" body lift and would like to get all the parts gathered up beforehand and was wondering if someone knows the bolt size and length I would need for a 2" lift.
Thanks

Its cheeper to buy a body lift kit. If you price out the necessary bolts and washers and nylocks youll spend way more than a kit. 8 bolts at $5 a bolt plus the rest.

Not all the bolts are the same length that I know. the front ones are shorter than the body ones.

If you do make your own id toss around the idea of a piece of 2x2 square tubing across the rear most mounts from side to side. Not only will this act as your body lift but makes for a great roll cage tie-in!

I've got a good friend that runs a CNC plastic shop that specializes in UHMW industrial parts. He has made many body lifts for people in this area.
I also have an in at Fastenal so the bolts would be in the $3.00 ea range.
I know the kit costs about $100.00 and I think I can do it for around $50.00.
That leaves $50.00 for Alaskan Amber.

Thanks for all the help guys, last night I pulled the bolts in the back they appear to be 3/8x5". The bushings look like they were changed out a few years back as I had no trouble getting them out. I've heard a lot of horror stories about sawzalls and bloody knuckles.

I had to use a sawzall/air hammer on four out of eight of my body mount bolts when I took them off the other day!

Most vendor Kits use larger diameter bolts vs 3/8" that came stock.

Hey Guys,

Curious about body mount bolts, too.

I bought a kit from JBG, mainly for the fasteners, bushings and 2" spacers.

Once we got the tub off the chassis, we found that the bushings and spacers are in very good condition. The bolts, on the other hand, are not in good condition.

It appears that the bolts in the JBG kit as not special (Grade 8 or Grade 5); but, I'm not certain that is accurate. Just going by the appearance. I know that they are 3/8" diameter.

Because I don't need the bushings or spacers I am hoping to be able to return the kit to JBG. Because of that I bought new fasteners locally.

I have a few questions:

1. Are stock bolts Grade 8, or something different?
2. Are Nylo nuts stock?
3. Is 7/16" dia common for bolt diameters?

Thanks for your feedback.

1. Are stock bolts Grade 8, or something different?

I'd have to say no, they're a lower grade. But I don't know that for a fact and have long since gotten rid of most of mine.

2. Are Nylo nuts stock?

No nuts at all. The lower washer/retainer IS the nut.
From underneath you'd swear the bolts could just pull right out the first time you take it off the road.

3. Is 7/16" dia common for bolt diameters?

Used to be. But not at most home stores any more. Seem to jump from 3/8" to 1/2" without the ones I really need.
Probably common enough at a decent fastener store I would think.
