Bolt stripped...need help!

So one of the allen head screws in the front axle hub is stripped and I can not get a bite on it with any allen screws. I've tried one of those easy out bits with no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get that bolt out or a something I can do to get the hub removed?

Drill the head off and then remove all the others and slip the hub off around it, then use a pair of vise grips. Maybe heat, cut a groove in it and use a screwdriver on a impact driver. Left hand drill bit. Ideas!

use a drill in the hole for the allen wrench just a little bigger than the diameter of the bolt. The head will pop off. Remove the hub and enough of a stub should be sticking out to catch with vise grips.

I've also gotten them out by tapping a Torx bit into the hole. Sometimes there's just enough out-of-round left to where the Torx bit will hold. Or, try a metric allen wrench.

I totally overlooked the reality that if I knock the head of the screw off then the hub can slide off! Thanks for opening my eyes. I guess I was so frustrated that I didn't realize the obvious.

Thanks for the help. I'll do it tonight and if it doesn't work then I'll just blame you for your idea...joking of course.

After you succeed, don't forget to get a new allen wrench - or at least grind the old one shorter to get some fresh corners.

Its not the allen wrench, I blame the PO's for starting to strip the bolt. All the other ones (on both sides) came out without a problem.

Holy shit, my idea of drilling the head off the screw worked! Haha
Thanks for the help.
